DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit has become the largest city in U.S. history to file for bankruptcy.
State-appointed emergency manager Kevyn Orr on Thursday asked a federal judge permission to place the city into Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection.

Having your municipal ratings cut by three levels in one fell swoop is almost unheard of and is an indication that things are circling the drain very quickly from a fiscal perspective.

I've never understood that. Why - in the name of God - would you want to advertise your cars are built in Detroit?
I'd sooner buy a Ford built in Mexico or even a cheap import built in China parked in my driveway than any POS from Detroit.
