House Republicans plan to ratchet up scrutiny of the IRS during a hearing Thursday morning where agency workers are expected to discuss the involvement of high-level officials in slowing down applications from Tea Party groups.
For the first time, the House oversight committee has invited two key agency officials to testify. Republican leaders of the committee claimed Wednesday that one of them recently revealed that the IRS chief counsel's office -- led by a political appointee -- played a role, along with embattled IRS official Lois Lerner, in scrutinizing conservative groups.
Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the committee, told Fox News that agency officials in Cincinnati were taking their orders from Washington, and that the investigation needs to look next at both Lerner and the counsel's office.
"As a part of this ongoing investigation, the committees have learned that the IRS Chief Counsel's office in Washington, D.C. has been closely involved in some of the applications," Issa and other Republicans wrote in a letter to IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel.

They’ll have their hearing and then zippo, off for vacation. I once had some hope that Issa would accomplish something but no more. He puffs up his chest and then nada. All show.
I’m not giving up. I am waiting for things to get bad enough that people will actually be ready to do something. Until then these kinds of little protests are just side shows. The sheeple don’t pay attention to them. All that registers with the sheeple is personal events like loss of liberty and confiscation of assets... they have not felt it enough yet. It will have to get terrible before they respond.

They’ve called many politicians over the years “teflon” for their ability to have NOTHING stick to them. This administration is no exception. Dirty as the most heartless mobster, but now you have to prove it and have the power to end them.
If you want something to stick to teflon... STAPLE IT. Issa needs an armed contingent on-hand to take criminals into custody prior to a trial. Even if the criminal in question is Holder or Obama himself...

There’s nobody to deal with if you mean criminal prosecution. The Dems are in charge of the Justice Dept which is who appoints all the prosecutors. Carter Hull looks like a hayseed (apologies to hayseeds who are smart, great folks) but he can’t be such a dumb lawyer that he fears prosecution.
I’m thinking, since he was named by someone at the IRS lower echelon than he is, that to keep himself from taking blame in front of Issa he is saying he was told what to do by the next guy up his food chain.
What do you want the Republican committee to do that they are not doing? Seems to me this hearing is going to do exactly what needs to be done. Connect the dots to SEE IF there were crimes committed by anyone “higher up”!

Sounds to me like you are bashing the Republicans who are trying to do the right thing. They are working to get the truth out and determine if there are “higher ups” who committed any crimes.

BTW, Obama and Holder aren’t even coming there.
This is the IRS scandal hearing and these are IRS people coming before Issa’s Government Reform and Oversight Committee.

The GOP needs to be engaging the WH directly and Boehner refuses to do it. Every bit of Obama Admin malfeasance should be documented and land on the kenyan’s desk. With a list of demands from Boehner to comply attached. No compliance = no funding. Simple. Yet Boehner refuses to do it.

Understood that no deal in the legal sense can be offered. I guess I was thinking more in terms of public perception.
By now I’ve pretty much given up the hope that ANY of these corrupt officials are ever going to prison.
