There are still enough hangers-on who think they can reform it from within. They have been hanging onto that since about 2004. They have been hanging onto that every time the GOP sticks a finger in their eye, every time the GOP folds, every time the McCains and Grahams and Ryans and Boehners reach across the aisle and acquiesce to what the Dems want.
