More than two years after her upstart Senate campaign rocked the Delaware political world, Christine O’Donnell got an unexpected contact from a U.S. Treasury Department agent warning that her private tax records may have been breached.
The phone message earlier this year shocked the battled-scarred candidate, a tea party favorite who knocked off Republican mainstay Michael Castle in the primary before losing in a bid to win Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s former seat.
“Ms. O’Donnell, this is Dennis Martel, special agent with the U.S. Department of Treasury in Baltimore, Md. … We received information that your personal federal tax info may have been compromised and may have been misused by an individual,” he said in the January message left on her cellphone.
For Ms.’Donnell, the message immediately raised red flags.
On March 9, 2010, the day she revealed her plan to run for the Senate in a press release, a tax lien was placed on a house purported to be hers and publicized. The problem was she no longer owned the house. The IRS eventually blamed the lien on a computer glitch and withdrew it.
Now Martel, a criminal investigator for the Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration, was telling her that an official in Delaware state government had improperly accessed her records on that very same day.
Beyond that, Ms. O’Donnell and Senate investigators who have tried to help her have run into a wall of silence, leaving more questions than answers about whether abuses of the IRS system extend to private individuals and not just the tax-exempt groups already identified as victims.
“I don’t know. And I’d like to know,” Ms. O’Donnell told The Washington Times in her first interview about the case. “Because whether it’s one, eight or 80 [cases], it’s an abuse of power...

There is now a blanket of intimidation over the country that discourages going on record against Obama and his fellow totalitarians.

Well Ms. O’Donnell if you don’t join the ACLJ’s suit against the IRS and do nothing...don’t expect anything.
Either side will, which is why the founders sought to limit power.
That is why the Left can not be trusted with an NSA surveillance society.
I don't trust ANYONE with a surveillance society--especially one which ignores the Constitution.
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.
I don't personally know her, so I can't comment. That both the MSM and GOPe tried to present her as 'flaky' doesn't mean she was, as both have united to present someone who threatened the status quo power structure before. Neither wants TEA party candidates to win.
If you are a conservative, the GOP is not your friend.

“Freedom” means the right to kill your baby, and the “right” to healthcare and the “right” to have whatever you want at someone else’s expense.

‘Liberty’ as intended is now seen as harsh, cruel, intolerant and ‘old’. Liberty has been redefined as ‘freedom’ for government to do stuff on behalf of the collective.
We cannot be at ‘war’ with our oppressors when we limit ‘war’ to fighting on their turf, on their terms in a system they have corrupted to benefit themselves and punish their enemies.
We cannot be at war with them when we already surrendered the culture and the language to them and refused to fight them by calling them and their ideas what they were at every encounter.
So we already ‘lost’ the war - and now they rule us.
What war is going to come, is going to be a war to survive with what is left of your liberty.
There are no longer any other options - we waited too long, and lost the country to the enemy. We are now occupied.
That’s the raw fact and truth, if you can handle it.
Out-of-control government seems to be the forte of the American people and has been for so long now.
I don’t think you have to know a politician personally to have a pretty good sense of who they are. I thought she was flaky from the first time I heard her, which was when Mark Levin had her on his show around the time she declared her candidacy. I knew something about her wasn’t quite right almost immediately, and nothing afterwards changed my mind about her. The GOP is a mixed bag like everything else.
This is worse than Watergate. But the media will say ho-hum.
O’Donnell is actually conservative and that is what we need. However, her past personal history was questionable and that is what did her in.

Every 2014/2016 R/I candidate is going to have to assume that the Dem opponent is getting a transcript of every phone call they make, every email they send,everything they look at on the internet, and will have copies of your tax records, medical records, etc., and that it will be used against you. All provided by the Obamunists in the government.
This is going to be like campaigning in 1936 Germany, folks. I hope they are ready for it.

There's been a lot worse...a lot worse. I don't see what was so bad. She was so terrible she knocked out a political powerhouse inside the party. She was very popular on the political talk show circuit for quite some time. You seem to accept the tarnishing of a candidate by idiots like Karl Rove.
I would have voted for her in a second over Castle because the last thing we need is another far left leaning Senator in our caucus. We can handle moderates but not leftists.
That said, your point has nothing to do with this issue. Once again, the bureaucracy is allowing private information of citizens to get out. This never happened pre-Obama. It was not even a thought that the IRS was capable of releasing private info. Our side cannot win if the cards are stacked against us with the government infrastructure being able to find and leak private emails, phone calls, tax records, etc. There is always going to be an activist leftist who can grab data to destroy any person. Starting with the state of Ohio leaking Joe the Plumbers info after his taped conversation with Obama.
