It's becoming clear that Martin was the violator here: his girlfriend essentially admitted that Martin attacked Zimmerman because he thought Zimmerman was gay.
Martin was committing the hate crime, and Zimmerman defended himself.
I was thinking along those same lines but I'd take it a step further...there are bound to be various obscure felonies that a "tipster" whose note displeases our esteemed (by some,at least) Attorney Corporal can be charged with.
Remember, report your neighbors to Miniluv if you even suspect them of racist thoughtcrime.

If FL Gov. Rick Scott doesn’t quickly put a stop to this he won’t stand a chance of getting reelected.
He has done the liberals dirty work for them and has alienated his base.
Blacks won’t vote for him no matter how much he panders to them and conservatives are sick of the pandering.
He played right into the democrats hands.
