Thousands Protesting The Zimmerman Trial Verdict Have Taken Over Times Square

George Zimmerman was found not guilty Saturday of the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Fla., — and many are not happy about it.

Protests are taking place in cities across the U.S., and one of the larger protests is happening in New York City's Times Square. Thousands have taken to the streets to protest the verdict, shouting "No justice" and "Trayvon."

There's a large police presence to ensure the protests remain peaceful, and so far they have been. The protests, which began in Union Square, morphed into a march headed towards Times Square.

From Reuters:

About 1,000 to 2,000 of the demonstrators abandoned the protest site at Union Square to march in the streets toward Times Square, slowing or stopping traffic.

Police attempted to funnel the crowd into controlled lanes but were unable to. Police halted the march about eight blocks short of Times Square, which was already packed with tourists, as is typical on a summer evening.

Although police tried to block marchers from moving into Times Square, that effort largely failed.

“This is a show of strength, but it’s also a show of solidarity with the family because last night, what happened, was complete disrespect to them,” Imani Henry, an activist with the People’s Power Assembly, told NBC News. “We want to show love and respect to them.”

Zimmerman shot and killed Martin in Feb. 2012, claiming self defense after the 17-year-old allegedly attacked him. The six-person jury in his trial were given the option to convict him of the lesser charge of manslaughter, but he was acquitted of all charges.

President Obama called for calm early Sunday after Zimmerman was set free.

We are in bizarro world. We’re supposed to be liberal, and think that Trayvon could do no wrong. The liberal view is that Zimmerman provoked things because he was following Trayvon.

Though evidence suggests that Trayvon was beating up Zimmerman badly, the liberals say that Zimmerman’s injuries weren’t that bad. They also say that Trayvon was scared someone was following him. In liberal land, we’re not supposed to say anything about Trayvon being a gang banger in training.

I think it’s quite possible that Travyon felt “dissed” or disrespected. In ghetto culture, the worst thing you can do to someone is diss them. And in ghetto culture, the response to being dissed is violence. Trayvon was probably acting out on his ghetto upbringing. But we’re not supposed to say that, because it offends the sensibilities of liberals. To liberals and race baiters, Zimmerman started the fight. We’re not supposed to say anything about whether he was acting suspiciously, because that would be racist, and liberals would say he was racially profiled. Racial profiling is against the ten commandments of liberalism.

Most of this crowd has no clue about the specifics of the case.

Just following the race hustlers “Revs” Sharpton, Jackson and those awfully cuddly Black Panthers, whose sole goal is “Justice”

“Hey, he may have been a pot-smoking, school fighting, gangbanger wannabe, but by golly, he’s OUR pot-smoking, school fighting, gangbanger wannabe, so don’t you dare fight back when he pounds on you!”

We live in a world of the haves and the think you shouldn’t haves... a world where those who have too much time on their hands are ruled by their emotions and the idea that those who have can subsidize their lifestyle. They are fed ideas and, instead of scrutinizing them at any level, are content to accept them as long as it meshes with their emotion vantage point of the world.

Wearing their baseball caps backward, as mentioned yesterday on another thread about leaving California.

Yes, I’d say that’s the Occupy crowd, with a few token blacks posing like mascots.

... slowing or stopping traffic.

Isn't that what they created the lower gearing for?

Down shift and drive on. They'll move...

Or, you know, maybe not. Either way, it's a win.

This is all very interesting because it shows how a portion of the population can be easily manipulated. It also shows that the media is still a powerful tool. He who controls the media in the country can control millions of brainless fools.

This seems indicate that most of Obama’s and Sharpton’s peeps are too fat and happy back at home on the couch with their Obamaphone and their SNAP card to go out and participate in a protest. Gotta be inducing panic at some level.

I call for the House to investigate the possible link between the protesting mobs and the federal government.
It is known that the justice department has financed and assisted some of the earlier protesters in Florida. Did they incite the protests that we are now seeing nationwide?
Are we seeing some of the OWS leaders back in action?
Is the government secretly directing them?
Or maybe, cunningly inciting them?

It really is much more than that.. I was watching some of the protests on Ustream last night. That crowd, in Times Sq. had no idea who they were marching for, they were just there. They are either paid to protest, OR they are there because they think it is cool to be in the IN group.

They are much more victims of marketing media, then the media/news. Starbucks, tech companies, entertainment.

Interviewer: "Why are you here?"
Protester: "I'm here for Tra'Von, man!"
Interviewer: "And, who is Tra'Von?"
Protester: "She's a little baby girl what got shot up by the police, man!"

1000 to 2000 people in the middle of Manhattan on the Day After is an EPIC FAIL

I was in the city 2003 when the Yanks beat the Sox for the AL championship.

The impromptu party on 5th and 6th Ave, midtown, was 10x that number, easily. And it was made up of just the people coming out of the bars.

1000 people? Might not have been noticed, except for the news cameras.
