‘So Much Harm to Patients’: British Doctors Describe NHS as ‘Worse Than Communist China’

Proponents of President Obama’s “Affordable Care Act” often suggest skeptics look across the Atlantic to the United Kingdom as an example of what can be made better with the American health care system.

But doctors in the United Kingdom have about had it, it seems, calling their own system “worse than Communist China.”

A recent report in the U.K. Telegraph chronicles the conclusions of the British Medical Association’s annual conference, where doctors loudly lamented the undue power of abusive managers and bureaucrats, who seem to have as much or more power in hospitals than the actual doctors.

“The result is the perfect toxic professional working environment for this explosive mixture to generate disasters such as Mid Staffordshire which did so much harm to patients,” said Dr. Peter Holden, a member of the BMA’s GP negotiating committee.

“Not even in Communist China did they have managers overruling doctors in the operation of hospitals and health services,” he added.

The Mid Staffordshire “disaster” is a reference to the revelation that up to 1,200 people died unnecessarily at an NHS-run hospital between 2005 and 2009, some suffering from starvation or dehydration and left in complete squalor (this is the case where people were drinking the water out of flowerpots they were so desperate).

Dr Keighley, who is set to retire after roughly four decades in the profession, said he has seen an alarming turn in that “we now see health boards talking about ‘their’ patients – almost implying that the doctors it employs or contracts with are mere technicians in the pursuit of their corporate aim.”

... if we didnt have as many bureaucrats...

Remember Matron?
They brought her back ,here(Berks), and the waiting times dropped dramatically.
However the Clipboard warriors still patrol the corridors.

The deaths are just the tip of the iceberg.

With any government control of health care, there will be massive suffering from those who have to wait for the procedures/operations. In the UK, those wait times have to be unbearable.

3 summers ago, during the first week of June, my meniscus which has suffered injuries since my teen years really started hurting. Our great FP made the diagnosis in minutes re a torn meniscus needing a scoop and clean.

Due to being on Medicare, Medicare’s protocol meant that he had to refer me to a PT. The PT is excellent. However according to protocol, he started me on PT, later he told me he knew that it wouldn’t work like our FP. So after a couple of weeks of increasing pain, I finally got to see a good Ortho Pod.

He confirmed what I had been told by my FP and PT, yet he had to give me a steroid shot to the knee, and put me on the MRI wait list. After a couple of more weeks of pain, he go me in for an MRI exam on a weekend after another patient cancelled it.

In 48 hours, my Ortho Pod had my MRI scan, which confirmed his diagnosis, my FP’s, my PT’s and my wife’s/ the office RN of our FP.

Two weeks later I had the surgery, and two weeks post surgery, I was out of pain and walking the flat land and hills where I live. I was only on pain meds, the evening post op and half dose the next day. I went on a prescription non steroidal for 7 days after that.

Due to the Medicare protocols, I had severe pain from early June until the end of August, when I finally had surgery.

If this happened under Obozo care, I might never have had the MRI and the surgery.

And there, ladies and gentlemen, we have it we have the answer to the question, "Why is 'Huge Nanny State' just another phrase for 'Die People, DIE!!'"? (or is it, "Earth Goddess Gaia sez, 'My planet is already too over-crowded -- buh-bye, Granny!!'"?)

“They don’t want our Constitution. They want Cloward-Pivens.”

So why are we letting them have what they want?

Because enough Americans are apathetic/ignorant to what is happening just like the proverbial frog in a pot of heating water.

The majority of our nation appears to believe in “free stuff” and that was the foundation that Cloward-Pivens understood as the necessity for building the world in their image. Those who vote for “free stuff” are now a majority when combined with the unlikely allies of the rat party.

Conservatives have allowed the GOP to become a progressive party through the much worshipped idea of “bi-partisanship.” They have never recognized that moving in the wrong direction to meet wrong-minded people halfway IS MOVING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION!

We have moved so far in the name of bi-partisanship that many issues unthinkable only a decade ago are now considered mainstream thinking.

It’s OK...
The TV tells me that Obamacare is good for me, and anyone who thinks otherwise is CRAZY, NUTZ, or possibly even an evil Bible-thumping, gun-toting conservative!

Yeah, I see your point. How about this? If healthcare was denied to somebody like a Tony Soprano or Don Corleone, I would not want to be that decision maker denying that. It's 2:30 AM and I hear a noise, it is the neighbor's dog/cat or a lieutenant and 2 or 3 capos just outside my house? It's 10 PM, the phone rings, is it my daughter telling me she'll be late from a friend's house or is it a call from a capo who kidnapped her? When I get in my car, will the brakes work? Patients have families and friends. I know God Himself says, "vengence is mine" but we could see mortals stepping in for the first take at God's pount of flesh.
