The only way you could be sure that a name hasn’t been anglicised by a migrant, is if you saw a birth certificate from the country of origin, right?
For example, I’m still scratching my head over the supposed Russian immigrant family named Baker.
Methinks they could have started out as Germans, living in say Lithuania...with the german name of Backer with an umlaut.
