The National Transportation Safety Board has released a statement revealing the source of Friday afternoon's embarassing KTVU hoax -a summer intern for the agency who "acted outside the scope if his authority" and "erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew" on the Asiana plane that crashed in San Francisco.

The Bay Area TV station read the racist crew names on air: Captain Sum Ting Wong, We Tu Low, Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang Ding Ow.

Why are these names “racist”? They are just joke names, made possible by the fact that Asian-sounding names lend themselves to this kind of humorous manipulation. These joke names are not slurs against Asians.

That's what I wonder too. If the names had been Ben Dover and Mike Hunt and the usual crew would it be prejudice against whites?

Maybe not millions watched it live, but there are more than 7 million people in the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area where KTVU is broadcast. This now has gone viral and will absolutely reach millions!

My wife and I were laughing at the names when we first read them. Then a few minutes later we learned that the news lady had actually read them off the teleprompter and my wife actually peed her pants she was laughing so hard. Then I almost peed my pants laughing at her peeing in her pants.
