(Georgetown) Students blame Republicans, wish they would all die

A Georgetown University student blamed the Republicans for allowing student loan rates to double, while another said that all Republicans should be put to death.

Campus Reform interviewed Georgetown students about their thoughts on student-loan reform and the GOP in general. One student gave a startling answer when asked whether he supported the Republican plan.

“I don’t think I support anything the Republicans do,” he said. “I think all of them should probably be put to death.”

Another student, who was watching the interview, chimed in with, “That was a little harsh.”

Off camera, the first student said, “No, it wasn’t.”

Another student complained that it was “arbitrary” and “douchey” for the Republicans to allow student-loan interest rates to double from 3.4 percent to 6.8 percent. When asked whether he thought all Republicans were generally douchey, he said, “Just the ones on the Hill.”

The interest rate jump was hardly arbitrary, however. It occurred automatically after the Senate failed to hammer out a compromise before July 1. Republicans, moderate Democrats and President Obama support a plan to index student-loan interest rates to financial markets, which would keep them low for now while allowing for higher rates in the future.

Liberal Senate Democrats, including Majority Leader Harry Reid, would prefer to keep Congress in control of student loans and have blocked the plan, preferring a flat three-year extension of the lower rates.

Even though the interest rate has already increased, Congress could change it back retroactively, though it’s unclear whether a deal will be reached by the end of the summer.

Many students, it seems, would oppose the Republican plan, no matter what the plan was.

What these students fail to understand is that the low interest rates are a subsidy from tax payers. Students have intrinsically poor or no credit, and only the federal loan guarantee makes the low interest rates from banks possible.

Tax payer subsidized anything is a bad practice because the government is taking from the successful and re-distributing it. If one wants growth in the economy, the best approach is to ENCOURAGE THE SUCCESSFUL. Encouraging the dependents grows the cadre of people riding in the wagon.

If an education is a great and wonderful thing, then student loans would be given out freely by banks. It should be able to stand on it’s own merits.

If students were being taught the Constitution and its history then they would know about the following problem with their federal student loans. Military training issues aside, given that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to dictate intrastate schooling policy, Justice John Marshall had clarified in general terms that Congress is thus prohibited from laying taxes for such purposes.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

So students are now evidently being indoctrinated to blame GOP for the rising cost of schooling, oblivious to the idea that corrupt Congress never had the constitutional authority to lay taxes on their parents and sponsors to fund their student loans in the first place. In other words, why can't parents and sponsors directly fund students instead of making students rent the money from Congress?

>>>And they all go to daily mass and receive communiion>>>

A short handful does not speak for the entire student community. And not all students there are Catholic.

“arbitrary” and “douchey” for the Republicans to allow student-loan interest rates to double “

They’re not going to pay the loans anyway, so why whine and wet their panties?

Well, you brain dead Georgetown morons, you’ve done the easy part. The hard part comes when you try to implement your fantasy. Guess what, your intended targets are armed to the teeth and know how to use them. Do you? Not bloody likely because you’re all show and no go.

the left makes idiotic death threats against those who would want to protect themselves with arms, from those making the death threats.

they are serious threats, i don’t doubt if they had the power and government behind them, they would try to murder us. they try to murder liberals who aren’t liberal enough for them - gabby giffords for one.

this is why we have the second amendment next time a liberal says where’s the threat, pull this video or audio out. remind them a lib nutjob shot gabby giffords for not’being liberal enough, it’s easy to believe them when they say then they’d like to murder us, their political enemies.

Works both ways.

If a bank can have a guaranteed return of 2 percent from the government, then there’s no reason to lend anything to anyone else.

If that’s the little snotnose’s attitude, why should I lend him anything? It’s my tax money he’s borrowing.

Wow, 6.8 percent, gosh, it's almost as if ONE THIRD of the CARTER YEARS had come back. Useless for the society to spend money on education when someone already in college is that stupid.
