Speaker John Boehner proved to the world that he still has enough support among Republicans in the House to pass a bill.

The fact that the Senate won't touch the Farm Bill passed by the House and President Obama has threatened to veto it because the GOP scrubbed the food stamp provision in the legislation, also means that Boehner is still clueless about almost everything else.

Food Stamps are going to be a SEPARATE BILL to be debated on. This one that passed is REALLY related to farms. PERIOD. FULL STOP.

Right... dying in the streets.

If there is a singe a$# hat out there right now who doesn't know how to get constant freebies out of the US government, score like a fat rat in a cheese factory and work the system like a pro, there ain't a steer in Texas!

NO ONE starves in the US. Even if you are some kind of freak who doesn't WANT government freebies, there is a Christian church on every street corner which wouldn't turn anyone away.

EVEN NOW, in the face of extreme economic difficulties, Churches continue their generous and Christian outreach to all comers. THIS is nothing new and was/will remain so even when the US Government runs out of other peoples’ money!

Food stamps should never have been hidden in the USDA by that old crook, LBJ. It should have rightfully been in the former Health, Education and Welfare Dept., since it is welfare. It’s high time we call a spade a spade.

Exactly. The MSM uses any excuse to vilify the GOP. Remember them saying people would be dying in the streets for the lack of Obamacare? Now you watch how they’ll be saying Americans are starving in the streets and showing anorexic people leaning against buildings or kids in school laying across their desks for want of food.

Ok, so Bohner got his caucus to pass this Farm handout bill by removing the food stamps part, causing some amusing cries by house libs on the floor ( they were totally outraged HA-HA)

So now we got a house bill that incompatible to the Senate Farm bill. That means this drama is not over.

This is worth watching, he still has till September before the current one expires.

yes Food Stamps are welfare and given out and administered by welfare offices all over the nation. Absolutely no reason for them to be in a farm bill.

Nahhh...he likes the perks of being Speaker, and knows that the Tea Party Caucus will remove him if he strays.

I think we've all seen the pitfalls resulting from large (1000+ page) comprehensive bills. It's time to pass tighter, issue-specific legislation.

You’re right. The conference version could actually wind up being something akin to the original version after all is said and done. Right back to where it started.

Reason why this is worth watching is immigration is similar to this. Bohner if he gets anything passed in House it will look little like the Senate immigration bill.

So what will he do?

We know Obama will get a farm bill eventually. I want to see how Bohner pulls this off.
