So does this mean Angelina Jolie shouldn't go through with her preventative mastectomy? Oh wait...

It may be made available in about twenty years.
To: Daveinyork
Tell me about it, especially with all the money in cancer treatments and with Obamacommie care coming up? Ah ha ha ha! I’ll say 100 years.

I wish them well. In the meantime, check out a company called Cellceutix (CTIX). They are in clinical trials wth terminal patients and are targeting the ‘angel’ gene as they call it. Multiple targets.

(RINOS like Romney, McCain, Dole are sure losers. No more!)
These are the types of things I expect to see repeated over and over for the next thirty years or so. It’s going to become so commonplace, we’ll take it for granted before long.
Fantastic!

There is still a drug just sitting out there derived from a gene of an Italian family basically immune to heart disease. The gene basically cleans the arteries and was featured on 20/20 in the late 1990s.
Drug testing was almost miraculous, but it was sold to another company, then another, and that slowed it down. Who knows what’s happening now.

Napalm will also kill/cure cancer - wonder what other parts might be in the side-effects disclaimers. I am ever hopeful that medicine will really take some giant leaps forward, but I cringe when the drugs tell the body not to react the way it was designed to do - if it becomes OK to eat cancer cells, what else might be on the menu?
No expertise in the area, but have been beaten to my knees by some "helpful" drugs - occasionally, ALL the side effects rear their heads at once...

The money in heart disease is what’s happening. Call me paranoid, especially with this regime, but there is no way they are going to allow a multi-billion dollar industry be wiped out by one single cure or treatment. I don’t know what’s more common today: The 10 gabillion ads for pharmaceutical drugs or the ads for cancer and heart hospitals. Just the amount of ads they put out there everyday should give people an idea how much money is involved.

It may be made available in about twenty years.Yeah, after the American Cancer Society gets their due compensation and has milked the disease for every available penny.

God forbid that a legitimate private business be interested in a profitable venture. How else do you think the majority of drugs are developed in this country? Through a mutual collaboration between government and a non-profit group? Get real.

Lou you misunderstand me. Im as conservative as it gets, and big pharm can make as much cash as it wants, just like any other biz.
im just talkin about the whole concept of getting a drug to market if it works, if this were to work, and help to really stop cancer, great, but we all know how long it takes to get to market.
