As one who spent many years on rock and ice, I say ‘Go girls go!’
That said it may not be the best use of time.
1,000 feet of vertical is long and unrelenting hard work.
If the pole in the photo goes all the way up they should have good protection and no long screamers.

When Spider Dan Godwin climbed in Chicago he was at times using glazers grips and because of a dirt film on the glass they slid down while in use!!!(I knew a reporter that was there, inside watching and later met Godwin.)

There's no doubt that it is/will be a physical achievement. I doubt if I could do it, even when I was young and stupid. (I'm not young anymore).

But using petroleum-based ropes/shoes/clothing/equipment (as one of the commenters says), doesn't send a real clear message.

I've never understood the point of these things. Is Shell supposed to notice the people climbing outside and say "Gollee, Fred, they're right! Let's quit boiling the polar bears and make chocolate!" ?

It can't go ahead if its raining because of slipping, as they are free climbing it needs to be dry.

The hypocrisy is very rich...they lead their nice, comfy middle class lives enriched and made easy by petroleum, and then complain about it. I don’t suffer such fools.

Women, go figure. It’s a scientifically proven fact that
women are bad luck on ships and shouldn’t be allowed to
vote. The seed of American liberalism was planted with
women’s suffrage. It all comes down to who ate the apple
and what happened to man afterwards.
In other words you can’t take these people seriously simply
because they are woman.

Since they have engaged in a conspiracy to break the
law, if one of them falls to their death, will the
others be charged ?

I’ve used some laid ropes, Goldline,Gladding... but have never seen anyone with sisal, hemp, jute...
And I have seen some prizewinners.

Did you once work for the Chicago fire dept?

It can't go ahead if its raining because of slipping, as they are free climbing it needs to be dry.

From Wiki: To elude firemen that were descending toward him in a window-washing machine, Goodwin swung across the building with a rope. The fire department responded by attempting to knock him off the building with water from a fire hose. When this effort failed, the fire department on the inside of the building used fire axes to shatter window glass near Goodwin and then, through the openings in the glass, attempted to dislodge Goodwin from the building with grappling hooks attached to long poles. Chicago’s Mayor, Jane Byrne, intervened, allowing Goodwin to continue to the top.

Um, how do these people get around, live? Do they eschew the use of oil and gas? Do they eat food only grown without the use of oil and gas? What about their clothes, only hand collected and hand processed without the use of oil and gas? Hypocrites.
