CONTROVERSIAL CALIFORNIA BILL EXEMPTS PUBLIC SCHOOLS FROM SEX ABUSE LAWSUITS
Big Government ^ | 7-10-2013

California Senate Bill 131, which is ostensibly about protecting victims of child sex abuse, forces private schools to defend claims of sexual abuse as far back as 40 years ago, but exempts public schools from such claims. Because of the Democratic super-majorities in both houses of California, there is no way to stop the passage of the bill.

As Valerie Schmalz wrote in Catholic San Francisco:

The California state Senate narrowly approved a waiver of the statute of limitations for child sex abuse damage lawsuits – a bill that could have a devastating effect on nonprofits including Catholic Charities and Catholic schools while exempting public employers. The legislation, SB 131, would force private schools to defend claims that may be 40 years old but forbid victims from suing any public school for abuse that may have occurred before 2009, the California Council of Nonprofit Organizations said.

She quoted Ned Doleisi, executive director of the California Catholic Conference, adding, "To add insult to injury, SB 131 even protects the actual abuser from being sued – the only claims that are revived are against private employers and nonprofit organizations.”

Ping to both homeschool lists as anyone in CA who is even considering public education for any reason needs to know about this.

ever watch the threads about female teachers who abuse boys, and the subsequent comments of "guilty!" or "not guilty!"

there's always the indignant females that get on and try to chastise us for those comments, but if you follow outcomes, we probably between 95-99% accurate- the "not guilty" teachers barely get a slap on the wrist. it's not us guys being sexist, we're being realists.

Nobody is denying that the good looking females teachers get a pass on this. Our contention is that it IS sexist and the epitome of hypocrisy to destroy a male teachers life over the same thing a female teacher gets a pass at because *boys will be boys* and she was *hot*, and *where was she when I was a teen*.

What's wrong for the male teacher/female student is also wrong for the female teacher and male student.

Immorality is immorality and abuse of power is abuse of power. Both are wrong and both should be treated the same.

Governmental entities have always had the option to choose sovereign immunity to avoid lawsuits but this just enshrines the public sector as “more equal”. These are swine on parade.

“This is a “get even with the Catholic Church” law pushed by the gay lobby. Plain and simple.”

Queers always resented the priests having prior seduction opportunities.

Another term that needs changing. Let's call "public schools" what they are:

GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

- places you never want to send your kid, at least in CA.

This will head to higher courts. The liberals in Kali might as well say, “No one can sue the State for anything, no matter what.”

The numbers and types of sexual and physical abuse that have gone on in America’s public schools would make the Catholic Church scandals seem like a candle next to a searchlight. Or would if the public was ever allowed to hear about them all.

Equal protection being what it is here in the Gorgon State.

“Catholic school have been a thorn in the side of the public school system for many years. This is a chance to rid themselves of the Catholic school system for good.”

Here in NJ the government has done a great job of destroying the Catholic education and hospital system; the NY politician just arrested trying to bring attention to NYC hospital closures is years late in my opinion. He won’t even mention one of the primary drivers of these closures (which happened in southern CA, and in my town in NJ): The state requires hospitals to treat illegal aliens, then steadily reduces the reimbursement for such care.

Same thing is happening with high school taxes in NJ (which prevent people from affording Catholic/private schools); we have to pay for the illegals as well.
