Did Personal Data Aid Obama Campaign?
Townhall ^ | 7/6/2013 | Carol Platt Liebau

The IRS has been credibly accused of targeting conservatives as a way to minimize their participation in the 2014 elections. But there is a mirror image to their suppression in the last cycle; the Obama campaign's utilization of Big Data to bring liberal partisans to the polls.

It was something that the press writing of admiringly both before and after the election, for example:

Time: How Obama's number-crunchers helped him win

Businessweek: Google's Eric Schmidt Invests in Obama's Big-Data Brains

Other outlets have confessed to some trepidation:

Gizmodo: How the Obama Campaign Uses Your Personal Information to Get Your Money and Your Vote

In the aftermath of the kerfuffle about metadata being used for national security purposes, it's worth asking whether (and what kind of) personal information somehow found its way into the hands of political people for the President's political benefit -- because there is significant benefit to any political campaign that can "mine" such data. Note that the companies involved in the NSA data-collection collection matter were huge Obama supporters.

Let’s say that all phone conversations are digitally stored until voice recognition software can put them into text. The storage of text takes little storage space and allows for huge amounts of text to be stored. They say that storage space is growing exponentially. With the phone tree architecture that Snowden described, you can organize the text according to rings of influence. You then have quite a powerful system.

Lets say you have a political campaign and want to ID those who would be your grass roots. With software, you can worm through a few years worth of text and find those friendly to your campaign. It would be as easy as doing a Google search. Then, because you have access to all the phone numbers, you could robocall your grassroots for support. Phones would get texts saying dial this number and donate. You see the power such an intelligence tool would have in the hands of an unethical person like Zer0 in power?

Let’s say you want to take out a political opponent by finding something embarrassing about them. That would be easy. You have the text of all their phone conversations. God help them if they dialed for a sex escort or asked where they could score some crack. You see the power such an intelligence tool would have to take out the opposition?

In the hands of the thugs we see working in the Zer0 Syndicate, the NSA could take out political enemies as easy as it did Paula Deen. And, there would be zero political accountability for doing it because the operation of the NSA is top secret. No one can crack into the workings of the NSA because it is inaccessible.

Don’t trust anyone who isn’t Tea Party. Get rid of all the RINOs.

Trust, but VERIFY. You don't get to be "Tea Party" just by saying so. We got all of the RINO's and GOPe by trusting people who said pretty much the same things as the Tea Party people are saying now. That plus the "lesser of 2 evils" thing. We need to win these races in the PRIMARIES.

As much as we all love Romney, he would have been a much better candidate in 2008 than Juan McLame. But Huckabee kept after a lost cause campaign in an effort to keep McLame in the race.

In 2012, we had a decent crop of conservatives, but they all pretty much destroyed each other in a series of catfights controlled by the MSM. That left us with the Mitt-ster, poster-child of the GOPe.

We all need to work to vet anyone who claims to be "Tea Party." This can be hard to do with new faces, and we need a BUNCH of those. It is a tough problem but we must solve it or our children will have the choice of "Better red than dead."

“Did Personal Data Aid Obama Campaign?”
DUH.....

UNDERSTAND THIS, FOLKS....

Every single Republican candidate, local, state, or federal, is going to have to assume that the Dem opponent will have the transcript of every single phone call, every text, every email, etc that they or their staff make.

The Dem will have their personal “Confidential” medical records and IRS info.

WAKE UP, PEOPLE. It will be like campaigning in 1936 Germany.

With the Undocumented Moslem from Indonesia
there are 2 questions always.

Is it LEGAL? No.
Is it unConstitutional? Yes.

Therefore, Obama has done it.

...”Meanwhile, in other “news”...

An airplane has crashed in San Francisco. Three people are dead and a number are in the hospital. This has eaten up all the broadcasting on all the cable “news” stations all day as the anchors breathlessly interview politicians and each other...

More people die daily in local auto accidents than died in this crash and yet it is wall to wall coverage all day? What’s wrong with this picture?”...

YES! As tragic as a plane crash is, it is nothing to compare to what is happening in this country which will ultimately cause many deaths from stress and poverty. We do not need to know the Boeing engineering details of the 777. They just need to give pertinent news when they have it..Wall to wall is insane..I went in to the programs I DVR only to find hours of plane crash coverage. I just deleted all of it and figured I would get the important parts of the coverage in the morning. The ambulance chasers like tragedy but the flip side of way too much coverage is that it desensitizes people to the pain and suffering of others over time. In this case, losing a holiday weekend of news which is crucial to America is not a small loss. Having said that, our hearts and prayers should go out to the victims of that terrible crash and we should pray that the cause will be found.

That’s true; it was even Gallup’s neglecting cell phone only contacts that led them to over estimate Romney strength until somewhere near the end of the election. But there was still very nearly a record low voter turn out in 2012. There were a lot of people who sat home, didn’t care whether Obama won or not. It’s often said that the 2008 turnout model was correct and that’s why the polling used 2008 model rather than 2010, for instance. Well if 2008 was 58% of voting age population and 2012 was 51%, how do you get the accuracy that silver and the Obama tech team claim ? The only way i see short of just being able to write in the numbers, is that you know you’re going to meet a certain quota by any means necessary and you figure from there. In other words, it’s a round up, not an election.

Nothing new. IBM's technology helped the Nazis. When forced by the U.S. to stop doing business in Germany, they moved the operations to Switzerland. Read: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/IBM.html

"When Hitler came to power, a central Nazi goal was to identify and destroy Germany's 600,000 Jews. To Nazis, Jews were not just those who practiced Judaism, but those of Jewish blood, regardless of their assimilation, intermarriage, religious activity, or even conversion to Christianity. Only after Jews were identified could they be targeted for asset confiscation, ghettoization, deportation, and ultimately extermination. To search generations of communal, church, and governmental records all across Germany-and later throughout Europe-was a cross-indexing task so monumental, it called for a computer. But in 1933, no computer existed.

When the Reich needed to mount a systematic campaign of Jewish economic disenfranchisement and later began the massive movement of European Jews out of their homes and into ghettos, once again, the task was so prodigious it called for a computer. But in 1933, no computer existed. When the Final Solution sought to efficiently transport Jews out of European ghettos along railroad lines and into death camps, with timing so precise the victims were able to walk right out of the boxcar and into a waiting gas chamber, the coordination was so complex a task, this too called for a computer. But in 1933, no computer existed.

However, another invention did exist: the IBM punch card and card sorting system-a precursor to the computer. IBM, primarily through its German subsidiary, made Hitler's program of Jewish destruction a technologic mission the company pursued with chilling success. IBM Germany, using its own staff and equipment, designed, executed, and supplied the indispensable technologic assistance Hitler's Third Reich needed to accomplish what had never been done before-the automation of human destruction. More than 2,000 such multi-machine sets were dispatched throughout Germany, and thousands more throughout German-dominated Europe. Card sorting operations were established in every major concentration camp. People were moved from place to place, systematically worked to death, and their remains cataloged with icy automation.

IBM Germany, known in those days as Deutsche Hollerith Maschinen Gesellschaft, or Dehomag, did not simply sell the Reich machines and then walk away. IBM's subsidiary, with the knowledge of its New York headquarters, enthusiastically custom-designed the complex devices and specialized applications as an official corporate undertaking. Dehomag's top management was comprised of openly rabid Nazis who were arrested after the war for their Party affiliation. IBM NY always understood-from the outset in 1933-that it was courting and doing business with the upper echelon of the Nazi Party. The company leveraged its Nazi Party connections to continuously enhance its business relationship with Hitler's Reich, in Germany and throughout Nazi-dominated Europe.

Dehomag and other IBM subsidiaries custom-designed the applications. Its technicians sent mock-ups of punch cards back and forth to Reich offices until the data columns were acceptable, much as any software designer would today. Punch cards could only be designed, printed, and purchased from one source: IBM. The machines were not sold, they were leased, and regularly maintained and upgraded by only one source: IBM. IBM subsidiaries trained the Nazi officers and their surrogates throughout Europe, set up branch offices and local dealerships throughout Nazi Europe staffed by a revolving door of IBM employees, and scoured paper mills to produce as many as 1.5 billion punch cards a year in Germany alone. Moreover, the fragile machines were serviced on site about once per month, even when that site was in or near a concentration camp. IBM Germany's headquarters in Berlin maintained duplicates of many code books, much as any IBM service bureau today would maintain data backups for computers." Excerpted

I did not receive one phone call or mail soliciting support for a Bolshie during the last election, so, they knew who I was and did not waste money on me. The question becomes, how did they know?
