Currently just Tweets and locals talking about this, nothing on news sites yet. Lots of stuff in the Twitter feed, including links to uploaded videos of the smoking mess.

There’s been live coverage on KCBS-AM (San Francisco), where in fact I first heard about it while I was driving not too long ago. It’s been confirmed as an Asiana 777. The station has gone to regularly scheduled traffic news, weather updates, and commercials, but it’s been going back to this news.

No local TV stations have been carrying continuous coverage. The news did break on KCRA (NBC from Sacramento—I’m not in the Sacramento market but get it on cable), but now the station is back to motocross. KGO (ABC) had a banner. Probably other stations have been similar.

They are spraying a lot of foam.

I can see cockpit windows. It does not look like plane is inverted. Tail section does appear to be missing.

Everyone OK? Great. That said,I hope the crash can’t be blamed on Boeing...they’re one of the few US companies that make any money and command any respect.

Yeah. Lotsa diversions.

The airplane is on it’s back. Hard to believe no casualties.

Tail missing may have confused some observers..I thought it looked right side up, too.

The airplane is on it’s back.

Well, it doesn't look like the front section is on its back.

Except from the pictures, it looks like it is on its belly with the slides out.

I’ve been on a 777 Korean Airlines between US and Korea, I would say a good 90% of the passengers were very young American soldiers.

Update: now KTVU (Fox affiliate) has local coverage, and KGO (ABC, as I’d mentioned) have an ABC News special report.

landing and take-off, are always the most dangerous

I've heard pilots say that landing is really a controlled crash. Comforting, huh?
