Edward Snowden denied Icelandic citizenship after being voted down by its parliament The vote leaves Snowden - believed to be staying in a transit area at a Moscow airport - with one option fewer as he seeks a country to shelter him from U.S. espionage charges.

Edward Snowden, who worked as a contract employee at the National Security Agency, was denied citizenship by Iceland.A bid by Edward Snowden for Icelandic citizenship failed when the country's parliament voted not to debate it before the summer recess, lawmakers said on Friday.

The vote leaves Snowden - believed to be staying in a transit area at a Moscow airport - with one option fewer as he seeks a country to shelter him from U.S. espionage charges.

Six members of parliament tabled a proposal late on Thursday to grant Snowden citizenship after they received a request from him via WikiLeaks, opposition parliamentarian Birgitta Jonsdottir said.

But a majority of parliamentarians voted late on Thursday against allowing the proposal to be put on the agenda, a day before parliament went into summer recess. It does not reconvene until September.

Whatever anyone thinks of Snowden himself and his actions-who doesn’t think that if this had happened under a Republican administration, he would have his pick of places to go?

Have we heard from Cuba? That would seem like his best bet.

This would-be Daniel Ellsburg has nowhere to go. Boohoo. He’ll have to come back to the USA and face the music.

Snowden must have the family jewels, or is suspected of having, to provoke this kind of intimidation campaign from the Obamanoids against so many countries. I don’t remember anybody else having so much trouble obtaining asylum.

If the President was a white Republican, he'd be on easy street.

Why Cuba?

Because he deserves to live in such an idylic tropical paradise. That being said I am basically glad he did what he did to embarrass and damage Obama. My thinking is that this stuff is being kept as an attempt to suppress everyone outside of their little leftist tent. But, since he is really one of them Cuba would give him a tasted of what these people are really all about.

I’m sick of all this ‘believed to be in Moscow’.

He verifiably is or isn’t.

I hope he stowed away on Morales’ plane and now can pop up in the non-commie countries that require an asylum applicant be on their soil when applying.

Cuba would not be a safe place for him. I really can't think of a safe place for him. He has embarrassed the 0bama administration and they don't like help being embarrassed. They do a good enough job embarrassing themselves. Snowden doesn't seem too smart. He didn't think the entire plan through.

I have to agree with you there. He looks like he is a man without a country. At first he was a celebrity which, I’m sure, was a large part of what motivated his hasty decision. As time passes, he may come to feel that incarceration in his homeland is preferable to freedom in “no man’s land.”
