WASHINGTON President Barack Obama urged Egypt's military Wednesday to hand back control to a democratic, civilian government without delay, but stopped short of calling the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi a coup d'etat.

In a carefully worded statement, Obama said he was "deeply concerned" by the military's move to topple Morsi's government and suspend Egypt's constitution. He said he was ordering the U.S. government to assess what the military's actions meant for U.S. foreign aid to Egypt -- $1.5 billion a year in military and economic assistance.

Aid to Egypt ends because a statute says no aid can be sent to them if there is a military coup. This is the best of all things. The Coptic and secular non throat cutting islamist now rule AND WE DON”T HAVE TO SEND $1.8 BILLION of printed money a year and we can use that money to send National Guard to the mexican border!!

I am incensed that we have transitioned from a love and devotion of freedom, to that of democracy. Too bad the GOP sucks so much at promoting freedom.

The problem with the GOP is that they think their version of freedom is better than the Rat version of freedom. We do not get our freedoms from government. The only thing government can do is restrict, mold, morph, and change the definition of freedom. We need less government. That will yield more freedom.

“that the same thing might happen to him. “

I see a couple of differences:

Their young folks are not sucking on the welfare teat, are not distracted by facebook and TMZ, etc. They are aware of their govt. situation.

Their military hasn’t been gay’ed, and its patriotic leaders haven’t been compromised, fired, blackmailed, such as ours have.

Obama’s ego is too big for him to realize that the Egyptian military used the Muslim Brotherhood to get rid of Mubarak, who was setting his family up to rule For at least another generation.

A decent interval has passed and that same military no longer has any use for Morsi. If they had left Morsi alone much longer he’d have gotten rid of the next echelon of officers and the Army would have been neutered. So they had to move and move quickly.

The populace realized what a serious error they committed placing a president in office. They rose in opposition and the military stepped up to remove him in objection to dangerous societal and contstitutional changes ushered in with the new regime.

Hmmmph.....can't understand at all why Obama is "deeply concerned."

Schadenfreude:

Today “... The Syrian government... has urged President Morsi to step down in line with his people’s wishes. “

what the military did in Eqypt is the best thing to happen to that country in a year. Every day Obama exposes more and more what a radical scum he is.

To Obama, all nations are prostitutes.

“You will do what I tell you to do for the money I pay you”.

Evidently the Egyptians have declined the invitation to be Obama’s whore.

It's taken me a while to get the courage to expose my lack of knowledge and to actually ask:

Is the ouster of the Morsi a good thing for the US, or a bad thing?

Obama seems to think it's a bad thing, which would normally make it clear to me that it's good for the US... but Obama sounds like it's not ALL that bad...

..is Syria put on the back burner now

The Rebels in Syria just lost a major supporter. Expect Obama to ratchet Syria up a notch in an attempt to preserve his remaining Syrian rebel forces.

It’s a good thing because while Morsi was handpicked by Obama, neither of them were interested in supporting or even contributing to US interests. I think this is going to shine a light on Obama and I think he’s been fairly restrained because he’s a little freaked out and wondering if this could happen to him too someday.

But he’s already announced that he’s going to attack them financially. That’s what FDR did to Franco after WWII because he was PO’ed that Franco had kicked out the Commies, even though Franco had helped us greatly by remaining neutral and letting us use the Spanish bases.

But what can I say? Never expect gratitude from a leftist or an Isamist.
