ObamaCare Employer Mandate Delayed to 2015 - After Democrats Have to Run for Relection
Townhall.com ^ | July 3, 2013 | Bob Beauprez

The Obama Administration announced on Tuesday, July 2 that implementation of the highly contentious employer mandate provision of ObamaCare will be delayed until 2015.  You can bet that the timing of this announcement is not at all coincidental - while Congress is out of town for the 4th of July holiday and it is a particularly slow news week.

The delay undoubtedly is a political decision, as most everything out of the Obama White House is.  With the 2014 elections already in clear sight, the last thing the Democrats are looking forward to is defending their vote for the massive piece of legislation that growing numbers of voters hate.

A June 5,2013 NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll found 49 percent opposed to the legislation and only 37 percent support it.  That is the highest percentage of opposition since NBC/WSJ began polling about ObamaCare in 2009.  The poll also found that by a 2-to-1 margin Americans "believe the law makes them worse off, the highest figure the survey has found since President Barack Obama signed the law."

Following is the FoxNews coverage posted shortly after the Obama Administration announced the delay.

Administration delays key ObamaCare insurance mandate

The Obama administration announced Tuesday that it is delaying a major provision in the health care overhaul, putting off until 2015 a requirement that many employers offer health insurance.

The announcement was made late Tuesday by the Treasury Department, at the beginning of the holiday week while Congress was on recess. It comes amid reports that the administration is running into roadblocks as it prepares to implement ObamaCare.

The change in the employer mandate is arguably the most significant concession the administration has made to date.

Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., a critic of the law, seized on the delay as a "clear admission" that the law is "unaffordable, unworkable and unpopular."

Bait and switch.

He’ll have more room to flex his muscle after the election.

Can anyone tell me if this is legal? To just ignore implementation? I’m asking seriously rather than rhetorically. My guess is some shtf if not implemented, because we are close to the point where Obama is a dictator by selective enforcement of laws.

I’ve seen this administration pull some sleazy crap but this takes the cake.

Putting off enforcing laws on the books by executive fiat to put off the unpleasant effects of HIS OWN damn health care law for the sake of helping fellow Democrats in the upcoming election is just unbelievable.

They refuse to enforce immigration laws using the same executive powers for similar reasons.

How long is Congress and the American people going to stand by while this guy side steps the rule of law?

This is a travesty.

Just like the 2012 election was. It’s nothing but political.

Fair question, Daxton.

Laws are NOT meant to be broken, at least not without penalties. Just because the fallout might be toxic is no reason to simply violate the legal requirement to implement the dreaded program.

Much as I hate ObummerCare, they HAVE to implement it when the law requires. Granting special dispensation just to help out your political buddies is still an open violation of the law and must be punished.

The real question to answer is it legal? Can he do this by executive order without the consent of the House or Senate?

Maybe our US Army will take a lesson from the Egyptian army.

I know? Americans are way too fat and happy, there’s no way Egypt should be able to pull off what they did so efficiently and we can’t even muster the energy to go put the fear of God in our public servants. And that’s what Obozo is, a public servant, not “apres moi le deluge” as he and his tranny wife go swanning all over the place.

But it is NOT delayed for individuals who must have insurance by then or buy it (saw it on Cavuto).

Conservative news outlets need to beat the drum on this one as, sure as heck, this was a political move by King Zero, and his propaganda arm (the "news" media) won't mention this tidbit.

so lets see; the mid term elections will be November, 2014 and what will be the biggest cause of concern and biggest topic of employers generating the great amount of debate at that time??? the looming cost and consequence of obozocare....this will backfire on the imperial president...

Is it legal? No.
Is there precedence? This administration won’t enforce immigration laws, ignored DOMA and eagerly used technology to violate the 4th amendment while actively subverting the 2nd (assuming Fast and Furious isn’t instead massive incompetence).

Impeachment hearings should start first thing Monday morning. Both the congress and the senate should hold a mass presser and announce that the American people are being screwed by the administration for political purposes,

Force the Dmicrats to stand behind the President on this. They will then have a choice. Support what Obama did to the American people or support the impeachment.

Time to play dirty.

ObamaCare Employer Mandate Delayed to 2015 - After Democrats Have to Run for Relection...but this will put it at the start of the next election cycle - when not only senators and representatives will be running, but a president too - lots of people losing insurance coverage and even jobs just as the campaign is cranking up - should be fun......
