Tulsa Homeowner Hogties Attempted Burglar

A burglary suspect got quite the surprise Wednesday morning. Police say Robert Cole tried to break into a home, but ended up hogtied in the front yard.

The picture is making its way around the Internet. Police say Cole was bum-rushed and hogtied by the homeowner, after he tried to break in to the house in the 2600 block of East 54th Street North.

"He's like a superhero," said Denay Houston.

She said she is awfully proud of her husband and how this would-be burglar ended up.

"I got adrenaline running through me like nobody's business right now, and being nine months pregnant doesn't help any," Houston said.

It all started when the Houstons heard the glass break outside their daughter's bedroom around 6 o'clock Wednesday morning.

"That folding chair was in her bedroom, shattered glass all over the place, and I said, 'A raccoon didn't do that.' And he was just like, 'Oh God,'" Houston said.

They heard rustling inside the garage and Houston's husband went to the front door.

"And then he waited for him to come out and then he bum-rushed him," she said.

He did more than just bum-rush him--her husband tied Robert Cole's hands and feet behind his back; hogtied him.

"I was like, 'That's my man!' I was really proud of him," Houston said.

As soon as Cole was tied up, Houston said her husband turned to her and said he had to leave, had to go work. That's why we couldn't talk to him today.

So, he called police and let his wife watch over his catch.

I just gotta ask... what job does he have that would not cut him a little slack to be late when he’s waiting on the cops to turn over a burglar he has hogtied in his yard?

Is he really that critical?

Hogtied in how many seconds?

If less than seven seconds, it may be some kind of a record.

It's not a function of how critical your job is. It's a function of what a worthless POS this burglar is. Even if my job was flipping hamburgers, it wouldn't be worth my time to hang around. Disrupting your daily routine would just give this punk more attention than he deserved.

I think it was a great statement to just head off to work and leave the wife in charge as your hog-tied house burglar writhed in the yard, waiting to be taken to jail.

Maybe his job is getting rodeo.com back up and working!

Should have ball-gagged him and drawn a phallus on his forehead with lipstick.

With a loaded weapon, I hope. No telling if the perp had a knife and could wriggle around to get at it to cut himself loose... and he left his wife alone with this guy?

Oh, wait - but then the cops would have shot her.

Never mind...

What a sweetheart! Pregnant wife, and he gives her a present, all tied up in a bow on the front lawn!

Mrs. Palin? That’s what you call a Pappa Bear.

He’ll probably be arrested and convicted of unwarrented restraint/kidnapping.

I just hope Mr. Hog Tie’s feelings weren’t hurt! That would be too sad.

I hate to say this, but I am glad that he’s white. That makes it funny. With the Zimmerman trial going on in the background and the poverty pimps doing everything they can to fan the flames of anger, there is no question that every media would scream like banshees if he had been black.

Biden will be encouraging all burgled home owners to do this...in lieu of using a shotgun.

This homeowner got lucky. Real lucky. I wouldn’t recommend any average person to do this unless they are in the WWF.

Hope he bulldogged him first. Unfortunate that he never got to brand him.

“He’ll probably be arrested and convicted of unwarrented restraint/kidnapping.”

That was my thought too. Although I guess when folks are charged with that (the recent kids vandalizing a house under construction) - the guy kept them for awhile and didn’t call the cops.

Glad this punk wasn’t armed - the homeowner might not have had a chance to show-off his rodeo skills.

Hogtied in how many seconds?

I get a feeling his field dressing speed is pretty good too.
