Army chief ousts Egypt's president Mohammed Morsi

EGYPT'S army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has ousted president Mohamed Morsi and declared the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court caretaker leader.

Mr Sisi, the defence minister in Mr Morsi's government, also announced a freezing of the Islamist-drafted constitution and early presidential elections.

He said a "strong and capable" government would be formed and would have "full capacities".

The army chief said a panel would be formed to look into amendments to the constitution and a law would be drafted to regulate parliamentary elections.

After the announcement, delivered by Mr Sisi in a televised address, Mr Morsi denounced the move as an "illegal" and urged Egyptians to "peacefully resist the coup as he himself will do", a senior aide told AFP.

Opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei said the roadmap announced by Mr Sisi "meets the the people's demands for early presidential elections".

The army's dramatic move comes after millions of Egyptians took to the streets to call for his ouster, accusing him of betraying the 2011 revolution that brought him to power.

Some nations are smart enough to correct a disastrous mistake made by a rigged election after a year of misrule. Other nations in the same situation are stupid and lazy.

Hey Morsi, don’t let the door slam you in the butt on the way out.

Notice that the Brotherhood isn’t busting out and going all head-chopping jihad all over the crowds. They slink into the shadows when the wind isn’t blowing their way.

There was a Pro-Morsi rally.... but it was pathetically small:

Exactly. They and their ilk are mere cowards, beheading when they have the numbers but sulking quietly when they don’t.

The American people have provided a lot of aid to the Egyptian people and the Eguptian military over the last 50 years or more.
It would be nice for them to return the favor.

Maybe the Egyptian military leaders could come to America and help their American counterparts grow a set.

Well done, Egypt...

Would that America would see the gross error of its way as well.

I wonder how many ‘refugees’ Obama is planning on importing under the radar. He wants 10,000 Syrians, so what’s another 10,000 from Egypt?

So what happened to the 400 US troops that were being sent to protect the muslim brotherhood and help contain the protests?

I would love to see the look on Obama’s face when he reads about this in tomorrow’s papers.

You are right, but I think certain nations sheeple are to comfortable and don't have the stomach for the cost and fear the military will not support them.

Military is a little too powerful when then can willie nillie change leaders. Egypt like the rest of the Muslim world is not in a desirable state. All this tells me is that no matter who is “elected” only the military really has any power

Obama rigged the U.S. election with the IRS and now is importing 100 million leftist 3rd world socialis. Yet we Americans sit down and watch TV, sports, play on our smarthphones

We Americans put up with greater tyranny from Obama than the Egyptians . Instead we watch TV, sports and play with smartphones while Obama and his tyrants in DC enslave us. we don't do this but we could
