Fresh presidential and parliamentary elections have been announced in Egypt amid reports that Mohamed Morsi has been told he is no longer in charge of the country.

Egypt's state-run Al-Ahram newspaper reported on its website that the army told Mr Mursi at 7pm (6pm UK time) that he was no longer head of state, quoting a presidential source.

The country's leading Muslim and Christian clerics and opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei will shortly unveil the details of a political road map for a short transitional period followed by new national polls, state news agency MENA reported.

Good question. Will the female news anchors now be able to remove the sheets with two holes for eyes when on TV?

The problem is that we are being watched from every angle. We wouldn’t need 10 million in DC to shut it down it’s just organizing it that is impossible.

Friday afternoon ought to be interesting... wonder what the sermon topic will be.

Probably “Isa teaches, “love your neighbor as yourself”. Ya think? ;-)

You know it pains me to say that the Egyptian people are showing us how we should respond to an Authoritarian Regime that consistently circumvents the democratic process through executive decree and judicial activism.

How long would it take to gen up about a 10 million strong demonstration in D.C.?

Maybe our Egyptian Christian brothers will get some relief from their current and severe persecutions.

Amen, You have to admit ...these people have spunk. We, however, are too busy gearing up for fireworks and hot dogs, worried about our waistlines, etc. It’s pretty sad.

"How about an American Spring?"

The peoples White House is in desperate need of a good Spring house cleaning... considering that it is a "prison" according to one of the current occupants...

I remember reading a few years ago that quite a few Egyptian military officers were actually educated and trained (they are not the same thing) in the U.S.
My son trained some of them, I believe.

We can only hope that some of the concepts of active-duty military (as opposed to retirees who always show up in the media) separating their jobs as much as possible from the politics while trying to support the good of the country rubbed off on those Egyptian officers.

Hope springs eternal.

INSIDE TV Soledad O'Brien on her move to Al Jazeera network, other upcoming projects by Sheridan Watson on Jul 1, 2013 at 4:27PM

Soledad already got permission from the Arabs to wear the version with the straight across viewing slot. But had some problems with it apparently....

I want to know what Morsi knew and when he knew it about Benghazi.

This could be a path to finding that out..

I’m guessing we’ll see very few of the “We don’t like Obama getting involved in our business” signs being waved by the masses in Egypt on the boob tube.

What a rebuke of a Obama favorite. Egg will need to be wiped from the One’s face.

Maybe the Syrian Army can steal this playbook. I really don’t like either side in that one.
