LA PAZ, Bolivia — The plane carrying Bolivian President Evo Morales home from Russia was rerouted to Austria on Tuesday after France and Portugal refused to let it cross their airspace because of suspicions that NSA leaker Edward Snowden was on board, the country’s foreign minister said.

Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca denied that Snowden was on the plane, which landed in Vienna, and said France and Portugal would have to explain why they canceled authorization for the plane.

“We don’t know who invented this lie. We want to denounce to the international community this injustice with the plane of President Evo Morales,” Choquehuanca said from Vienna, where the plane landed.

Morales met with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a summit of major gas exporters in the Kremlin.

Morales said in an interview with Russia Today television that Bolivia would be willing to consider granting asylum to Snowden.

You would think France would be grateful to Snowdon because he exposed that the US is spying on them.

I have to believe that Obama is somehow convincing these nations to aid the US in stopping Snowden from any more leaks of info...makes me wonder how what is in those files might be influencing other countries to jump on the “get Snowden” bandwagon.

"somehow convincing"

The math is pretty simple: if I harbor a citizen of another country who committed espionage against that country, then I have little chance that I will be able to ask other countries for help when I need to track down one of my own fugitives.

There are rules.

I suspect that the Russians let this slip intentionally, so as to make the US look foolish, and embarrass those countries willing to cooperate with the US.

Well, if that was the intention, it worked.

Definitely truth about WMD going from Iraq to Syria with help of Russian scientists.

Bush/Cheney lied about it and kept it from public demanding they retrieve or replace Assad's regime, for whatever reason.

Could it be the US intel by any chance? Kind of funny how intel and idiot start with the same letter.

Any follow-up stories? Did the Austrians search the plane?

Well, since he could be on any plane, France and Portugal need to divert every plane that enters their airspace.

After all he disclosed that since any phone call could be terrorist related the government needs to divert all of them through the NSA...

Put snowmen on a fishing boat in the Bering. Send him to Juneau and sign him up for welfare under a fake name. They’ll never find him

So, all the other ‘sorry I got caught’ actors in the regime haven’t been fired, just reassigned.

Makes one wonder.

You’d think France would be grateful to learn they were worth spying on.
