NY TIMES ^ | 7/3/13 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania —Two presidents who spent much of their time in office fighting terror stood solemnly next to each other Tuesday morning as a United States marine placed a wreath to mark the memory of those killed here by a terrorist bomb 15 years ago.

President Obama, in Tanzania for the last leg of his weeklong Africa trip, stood to the left of his predecessor, George W. Bush, under a tree canopy on the grounds of the American Embassy here. Mr. Bush is in Tanzania with his wife, who is holding a summit for African first ladies.

There are so many behind-the-scenes connections that I’m going to have to redo my tin-foil hat. m No one likes being played for a chump.

I suspect that Obambi horned in on a preplanned ‘W’ event. It appears that Obambi has lost so much stature in the world that he’s trying to see if any of the ‘W’ respect will rub off on him. Rotsa ruck.

GWB - a perfect example of the Washington sickness.

As Texas Governor - OUTSTANDING.

For his first couple of years as President - OUTSTANDING

And then, whatever it is, enough years in Washington and every President comes down with it. Same for Senators and Representatives. No matter how conservative they start out, enough exposure to Washington and they begin to dissolve.

(And yes, that even applies to my all time favorite Reagan. Compare his last two years with his first six.)

Obama spends every day of his administration trashing Bush to boost himself and then Bush runs over to Africa to give Obama cover when he most needs it.

Unbelievable. Something is very wrong here when you add this on top of Jeb giving Hillary medals. It looks like one big party to me.

FR is not full of W or Romney fans.
But one thing you have to say is that both of these guys have class.

You cannot unfortunately have class around a hard-boiled Alinsky type like Obama. He will just take advantage of you and then have a good laugh at your expense later on.

Ok, smart guys, what the heck is this all about? We have a Presidential trip to Africa with FLOTUS. The trip had no real preparation, no awards or stated goals. One highly-reported act was POTUS’s praise of George Bush for stamping out AIDS in Africa. FLOTUS isn't very visible during the week (off shopping?), while POTUS circles the near-finished carcass of Nelson Mandela. Surprise! None other than old buddy Laura Bush is holding a “summit” of African FLOTUSES. They happen to run into each other in Tanzania and become best buddies.

“Barack, honey, you'll never guess who I ran into at the market...my old friend Laura! She wants us to help with her summit. It'll be fun. C’mon, don't be a party pooper”.

Coincidentally, Cokie Roberts is there too, the sage old reporter having been assigned to the plum job of covering ex-first ladies. Michelle has decided to “like” Laura, the two having so much in common.

Meanwhile, Jeb Bush is calling Obama the worst names while presenting a Liberty award to Hillary Clinton for her skillful handling of the “potentially” disastrous Benghazi affair.

Also meanwhile, Secretary of State Kerry is in Israel artfully turning back the clock on thousands of years of history, letting Barack do the heavy lifting of opening his new embassy.

What is going on?

Thanks to the New York Times for reporting this story. They really have an eye for news.

There's more! A more careful reading of the story discovers the “secret that power companies want to keep quiet”. A socker ball (SOCCKET) that uses a revolutionary Harvard-developed mechanism for storing kinetic energy, called “ a pendulum”. One of these gadgets can power both of Tanzania's light bulbs for 1.5 hours. Obama hopes that these will attract African nations away from the tired old power plant technology being offered by China.

Have any of your bashers given a thought that perhaps the Presidents Bush have too much regard for the "Office of the Presidency" to slight current or past holders of that office?

Of course - Freepers aren't as unperceptive as you might think.

To me the point is that president Bush has been viciously trashed by Obama since he started his first run for the presidency back in 2007.

I do think president Bush is too much of a gentleman and patriot to show disrespect to the office of the president, in spite of the disgusting behavior of its present occupant.

However, it would not be disrespectful for him to just be someplace else to avoid joint appearances with Obama other than very special occasions.

I believe that democrats like Obama count on republicans to follow rules, act civilized, and show respect for traditions, institutions, etc.

They take advantage of it and when possible try to use compliant, courteous republicans to bolster their own credibility, stature, or position on issues - always relying on the fact that republicans, in general, will not stoop to the same disgusting conduct, rudeness and personal attacks that are the democrats stock in trade.

When I commented that this joint appearance was SAD, I mean that it is sad to see President Bush allow Obama to use him to appear more presidential when Obama has shown him such disrespect. I would have preferred to see President Bush just say he would be unable to cooperate due to a "scheduling conflict".

Beady eyed GWBush was an enemy of small gov. Conservatives just as Rubio, McCain, McConnell, Boehner, etc., etc. These are the people that refused to stand up to the IRS for the Civil Rights of the T-Party organizations. They do not deserve any respect!

This is a concession on Obama's part.

Dubya will ALWAYS do what's necessary for national security. If he can stand with Obama to memorialize the Tanzania terror attack that is a plus.

Obama has had to move to the right on the WOT to the point where the left wing support has deteriorated. Many conservatives don't see this...but this is a plus for the US overall.
