A speech for all times (Rubio's "Masterpiece")
The Washington Post ^ | June 27, 2013 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 06/29/2013 1:49:21 PM PDT by Colonel Kangaroo

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) gave a magnificent speech on immigrants and the meaning of America a few minutes ago. If you tear up and are moved, you understand why immigration reform is so critical. And if you sneer, roll your eyes and disparage his words, then there is nothing any bill or pundit will do to change your mind. Yours, in that case, is a different vision of America than mine.

After recounting the incredible details of his parents’ struggles and immigration he said:

This is not just my story. This is our story. It reminds us that we are “E Pluribus Unum.” “Out Of Many, One.”

here’s what I don’t get, Rubin was Romney’s #1 cheerleader and Romney’s position on immigration (at least his stated one), was diamterically opposed to Rubio’s and this bill. If this issue really meant so much to her how could she have supported Romney so strongly. Especially given that Romney used the immigration issue very effectively against both Perry and Gingrich.

Doesn’t really make any sense.

Slow path to progress for U.S. immigrants: 43% on welfare after 20 years

The study, which covers all immigrants, legal and illegal, and their U.S.-born children younger than 18, found that immigrants tend to make economic progress by most measures the longer they live in the U.S. but lag well behind native-born Americans on factors such as poverty, health insurance coverage and homeownership.

The study, based on 2010 and 2011 census data, found that 43 percent of immigrants who have been in the U.S. at least 20 years were using welfare benefits, a rate that is nearly twice as high as native-born Americans and nearly 50 percent higher than recent immigrants.

The Spaniard doesn’t know American history.

“E pluribus unum” referred to the union of the States, not the amalgamation of ethnicities.

In other words, if you disagree with Rubin, you’re a sneering, belligerent mule.

No apologies needed. My uncle who lives in Boca admitted he voted for Jeb, but at least Jeb was a good governor. After Dubya stepped down, he sounds like McLame.

Correct. A bloodless coup is happening and Rubin wants us to tear up because Marco made a speech. We have been down this road before....2007 and 2008...IDIOTS.
