Obama presses House to pass immigration bill before August recess
The Hill ^ | June 29, 2013 | Ben Geman

Posted on 06/29/2013 6:54:48 AM PDT by opentalk

President Obama on Saturday urged the GOP-led House to act this summer on immigration reform following Senate passage of a sweeping measure two days ago, declaring, “now is the time.”

“I do urge the House to try and get this done before the August recess. There is more than enough time,” Obama said in South Africa, his latest stop on a week-long trip through Africa.

“This thing has been debated amply, and they have got a bunch of weeks to get it done. Now is the time,” Obama added during a joint press conference with President Jacob Zuma.

… “I have called both Speaker Boehner and [Democratic] Leader Pelosi and encouraged them to find a path to get this done, and the framework that the Senate has set up is a sound framework,” Obama said.

I like that idea. It’s time that we hold government responsible for this mess. They are responsible for protecting our borders. They pass laws that are not enforced and when a state tries to enforce then the DOJ harasses them.

The same could apply to countless other problems.

Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.

Paul Ryan is pushing this

Ingraham to Ryan: Why Are You Pushing a Bill the CBO Says Drives Down Wages?

...“If the amnesty happens, those people are going to be able to compete across every job line, across every employment sector,” she said.

”How does flooding the marketplace with more laborers to compete across every workplace environment – how is that good for the American middle class?”

Ryan didn’t respond directly to the charge, but said he had real concerns with the Gang’s bill that he’s confident the House can address. In fact, he said, “We’re not going to vote on the Senate bill. We’re doing it our own way on a separate track, and we are being very methodical about this . . . We know where the Senate bill has failed. We have an obligation to fix it in the House.”

He wants enough time to relocate the new Americans to red states before the 2014 election.

A bunch of weeks to do some stuff. That’s how it usually comes out.

NOTE also, beloved media legend Bob Woodward said, “when you pass complicated legislation and no one has really read the bill” then “the outcome is absurd.”

Sounds like satire material to me.

Yes, I believe we can win this fight.

Obama lost on the sequester, and was made out to look the fool. Boehner DID best him on that issue, and Americans are NOT demanding amnesty.

Call me a Polly Anna, but this is better for us than the picture the media paints.

We talk about NOT believing the liberal media all the time, but do we PRACTICE what we talk about?
