Snowden Scrap: Ecuador Thumbs Nose at Washington
Der Spiegel ^ | June 28, 2013 – 03:30 PM | Johannes Schneider

Tensions continue to simmer between Washington and Quito over the Edward Snowden affair. After the United States threatened to eliminate special trade benefits with Ecuador, the South American country unilaterally moved on Thursday to terminate a trade benefits deal with the country. A short time later, the US said it would also review trade advantages given to Ecuador.

For Washington, the latest developments are a further setback in the diplomatic nightmare surrounding whistleblower Snowden, who has been on the run since leaking documents about colossal American and British Internet spying programs to Britain’s Guardian newspaper. Washington’s threatening gestures come at an opportune time for politicians in Quito.

In Ecuador, few believe that a trade deal in place with the US since 1991 will be extended. Numerous conflicts already existed between the two countries even before the Snowden affair. …

Good. What the whole world needs right now is a multi-sided trade war, fought for reasons that have nothing at all to do with economics, but will have a negative impact anyway.

That’ll show them turkeys who’s boss. Until it dissolves into a distance-and-direction urination contest.

While facing into the wind.

Sounds like he’ll be safe in Ecuador then, at least until the next change of government. Good thing South American governments are known for their stability, right?

I don’t think Snowden will be safe in Ecuador.

He needs to get a tan, dye his hair dark, learn spanish, sneak across the Mexican border back into the US...Amnesty!

Once he gets an Ecuador passport....he will have more freedom of movement throughout South America (with exception of Colombia)...where he will fit in more ethnically. Doubt that he stays long in Ecuador

This is the problem with picking any Latin America country to escape to....things change every five to eight years. And you wouldn’t want to be there under some safe umbrella....to wake up and realize a coup occurred overnight.

To me, Cuba would be the most safe place to go to....but every internet exit from the country will be monitored by NSA probably, and it’s not exactly paradise.

Maybe the Moscow airport is the safest place to be....for the rest of your life.

There is a ‘solution’ for everything.

Think Lt. Philip Nolan USA.

Problem and Reasons not the same BUT the solution ‘works’, ALSO be careful what you wish for.

This does show what a sorry shape global governments are in. Only Ecuador will stand up to the US?

Snowden can only be safe in a place where the CIA can't operate or get others to capture him.

Is there any such place on earth?

If Snowden is REALLY smart he’ll take this suggestion that just popped into my head.

He should immediately buy fake identification (ideally a passport) using Obama’s stolen CT Social Security number #042-xx-xxxx as his own, then hunker down in his choice of host country.

If he ever gets extradited to the USA, before that can happen, the 2 countries and assorted lawyers have to navigate all sorts of international laws, treaties and procedures.

I think Obama would drop the whole thing rather than have Snowden start appearing in foreign courtrooms using Obama’s SS# and claiming to be Harrison J Bounel while “Snowden is only an alias.”

The stranglehold corrupt Third Worlds--like Ecuador--- have on the US was never more apparent than with the immigration reform atrocity.

A GLARING EXAMPLE---The corrupt Dominican Republic depends on the $$BILLION US tax dollars PER YEAR its illegal populations in the US send back home to the impoverished Third World hellhole.

========================================================

Any attempt to harbor Snowden by Third World individuals should be charged w/ undermining US ntl security. Swift retribution is in order.

Ecuador is a third world s-hole where the streets are paved in dirt and the pedestrian traffic includes pigs and chickens. Having said that it’s dirt cheap, the food is good and the women are muy bonita.

Let us face the truth: Obamugabe is not respected by any continent on the planet. Maybe Australia, but that is a stretch.

China and Russia are obvious in their disdain...both regarding economics, defense, and Snowden....He has been protested and rebuked for being pro-sodomy in Africa...now South America is laughing at him...and just last week he was completely underwhelming in Europe.

Part of this makes me think he is happy to be such a weak leader, as it further weakens America. But I also believe he wants to be projected as PERSONALLY in charge, the cult like worship he once (and still in some quarters—the black community, academia, the media) possessed. And so in some respects, I think the world wide turn against the Clown is detrimental to his standing—which is something he DOES NOT like.

And just as an aside...I think the constant drumbeat of pro-homosexual propaganda happening in the Democrat party right now is a prelude...the Demonrats are about to unveil a very prominent homosexual within their midst who will want to occupy the Oval Office.

Just sayin’.

What we need is more Snowdens running around exposing and
making Mugabe Obama look like the fool that he is.
Snowden seems to be doling this info out in a way giving
clues that he hasn’t dropped the real bomb yet.
