CHARLESTON, W.Va. A criminal charge has been dismissed against a West Virginia middle school student who refused a teacher's order to remove a National Rifle Association T-shirt he wore to school.
Logan County Circuit Judge Eric O'Briant signed an order dismissing an obstruction charge Thursday against 14-year-old Jared Marcum stemming from an April 18 incident at Logan Middle School.

Marcum is filing a civil suit against the school district. I hope David Burroway, the teacher that ordered Jared to remove his shirt, is named in the suit.

He was a good kid and honor student who had the unfortunate experience of calling into the homework hotline at about the same time a bomb threat was called in.
They traced his cell phone number and had him hauled in to make an example of him because the school was getting heat for suspending more students with protected minority status than white kids. Even though his explanation was clear, concise and even proven, the PC principal didn't want to let it go because the actual bomb threat number of origin was untraceable and this kid was a convenient scapegoat.
So he was expelled, charged and put into juvenile detention before his parents hired an expensive lawyer to prove his innocence. By that time, of course, the principal wanted to reinstate the kid and offer a fake apologize, but the parents pursued it to the logical conclusion.
I'm glad things worked out for my daughter's classmate, but I'm equally sorry to report our PC principal still has her job.
