Supreme Court decisions are fast becoming the Democratic National Committee´s BFF because for a second day the Democrats have drafted off a court decision with a fundraising pitch. This time Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is cheering the end of the Defense of Marriage Act in her fundraising memo feature a picture of a beaming President Obama. On Tuesday, the Democrats blasted the court´s decision to gut the Voting Rights Act. In her note, Wasserman Schultz said that the party has "no gay agenda." That is a very interesting thing for her to say, especially in view of her boss's blithe "I won't force churches to perform gay marriages." As if, in view of the First Amendment, he can? Well, in view of the IRS threat to pull the tax-exempt status of any who do refuse, I'm wondering if perhaps that really is on the agenda. If Wasserman-Schultz denies it, it's likely true.
