It Begins… 2010 Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Pushes Chinese-Style Population Control

Michael E. Arth ran for governor in Florida in 2010 as a Democrat.

This week Arth pushed Chinese-style population control. He also Americans should purchase “birth credits” to have kids. Vice.com reported:

So if people live longer and longer, how do you deal with overpopulation? That’s why we have to get started now. Waiting just compounds the problem. World population increases by 220,000 every day, after accounting for the 155,000 who die. It’s truly a hydra-headed problem, because for every person that is cut down by death, more than two are born. This is like adding the combined populations of England, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand to the world every year. Politicians don’t address overpopulation because they focus on issues that will get them re-elected in the short term, while the business interests that influence them want to see more and more consumers.

They don’t address it unless they’re China. China would have two billion people today if not for their population policies. Nevertheless, China still added 350 million more Chinese since they implemented strict family planning measures in 1978, because of what’s called population momentum. Because of the burst in population growth under Chairman Mao, the average age of the population had dropped. Until these excess young people had their own children, the population increased faster than if you had an evenly distributed demographic. So even limiting families to one child per couple was not low enough to stop population growth.

Now, thanks to the one-child policy – to which there are many exceptions, by the way – China’s ageing population will probably not grow much more from now on, as long as they don’t remove the restrictions....

Here's my viewpoint on population control: those who can support their kids without welfare payments, and raise them to become productive citizens, should have as many kids as they desire.

Those who demand taxpayer subsidy should have as many kids as they can raise by themselves without welfare. For some, that number may be zero.

Another idiot who doesn't understand demographics. His welfare state is unsupportable with a static or declining population.

Of course, what they don't tell you is that what they really want, is to replace Americans of european extraction who would live ni a nation of laws, not men, with masses of pliant 3rd worlders who will accept their graft, corruption and cronyism as just the way things are done.

Or rather, the welfare state is only supportable if the growth rate of the underclass is held below the growth rate of the taxpaying class.

The question of sexual maiming is separable from the question of government assistance (though you did not limit it to "assistance", but said "anyone dependent of government payments", which would include government employees and contractors, and their dependent family members. But we'll let that pass.)

If you want to vastly reduce the welfare rolls, there are better ways to do it than to offer the infliction of permanent disability as an alternative. You could just put in time limits and work requirements. And immediately cease all the tax and regulatory burdens which have as their effect the extermination of enterprise.

Reproductive maiming is wrong in itself --- intrinsically wrong --- and doubly so if enforced by coercion.

Mrs.Don-o says it better than I can. Plus she knows how to do bullet points. Very saddening and enraging. But to be honest, I think there is going to be a massive turnaround. There are more of us who are not on board than they think.

Have **all** the children you want. But support them by the sweat of YOUR brow, not that of the rest of us. . .

Welfare needs to stop rewarding deadbeat females for having children.

First off, welfare needs to be abolished and let the churches do their job of caring for the poor, where there's accountability.

Second, stop paying women to have babies. In NY you get money for each child up to four. So guess how many four children welfare families you see.

LOTS!!!!

As long as they are paid to make babies, they will because they don't have to take care of them and they don't.

If people are going to sit on their butts all day and take the free money and other hand outs from the government, it OUGHT to come with strings attached. Don't like the strings? Don't take the money.

I certainly agree with the churches and private philanthropies taking over the support of the poor and unemployed: chronic public dependency is a bad thing all around, for everybody.

We're in agreement on that. The matter we disagree on, is whether there should be the threat of of disabling the recipient.

Physical maiming should not be an alternative. It is immoral because it is treating this person as a dog to be spayed. It would be better to have public works employment at minimum wage --- streets still need to be swept after all, and restrooms cleaned --- than to force people to be surgically maimed.

A more acceptable solution would be time limits on benefits and work requirements. Back in the '90, thousands and thousands were taken off the welfare rolls because of strict time limits and the need to document disability.

Sorry if I left the impression that I supported sterilization. That doesn’t allow for someone to change.

That said, I support drug testing for welfare recipients and much more accountability. This business of handing them free money and giving them free rein.

I lived in a welfare town for 18 LONG years and saw all the abuses of it. They are handed everything, scam the system, and whine about how bad they have it. It sickens me. I HATE welfare and the whole program should be defunded.

I agree with you: long-term welfare is a soul-sickening system. It is neither charity nor justice to lure a needy brother or sister into a degrading state of lifelong dependency.

People use EBT cards for cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, nail salons, tattoes, drugs and pornography. When my hard-working, highly thrifty DIL was doing checkout at a grocery, it made her angry every day to see people paying for carts full of junk food AND expensive cuts of meat and seafood, while she -- working every day and conscientiously paying off student loans --- was living on bagged beans and the cheaper cuts of macaroni.

Drug tests, payment ceilings, work requirements, and lifetime limits on benefits would be a good place to start.

And the illegals --- oh man...

Sounds like something you read in sci-fi, as well. Ender’s Game and Ringworld come to mind. Both have population limitation laws for the whole planet.

In view that Florida is full of older people not having children, wtf? Does he think he can work his fascist magic on hispanic Catholic “undocumented citizens” entering the state? (Or, as Dear Leader is now calling them, “U.S. persons”...)
