Pediatricians have a new mission: Fight ‘homophobia’

In its first sexual-orientation policy update in nearly a decade, the nation’s largest pediatricians group said its members should do more to fight “heterosexism” and “homophobia,” as well as step up their care of teens with same-sex attractions.

“Sexual-minority youth should not be considered abnormal,” the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) said in its new materials on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youths, released Monday.

The policy statement and technical report — which updates a 2004 policy — is nonbinding but recommends that pediatricians create offices that are “teen-friendly and welcoming to all adolescents, regardless of sexual orientation and behavior.”

Doctors can signal their openness to LGBTQ youths by putting out brochures with pictures of “both same- and opposite-gender couples” or posting a “rainbow” decal on an office door or bulletin board. The report also suggests that medical questionnaires be changed to be gender-neutral, and that staff be trained to not ask a boy about his girlfriend, but to ask him to “tell me about your partner” instead.

AAP’s new guidelines are not filled with “gloom and doom” about LGBTQ youths, said Dr. David A. Levine, lead author and member of the AAP's Committee on Adolescence.

“There is an emerging literature about resiliency [in these populations], and about the fact that parental acceptance and parental love, family connectiveness, religious connectiveness and school connectiveness are all very protective against risk behaviors,” said Dr. Levine, who is a professor of pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta.

It really shouldn’t be a surprise that when teenagers feel valued and secure, they develop positive self-esteem — and that is what buffers them against high-risk behaviors, he said.

This is insane, but it sure fits with the society that the libs have brought to us all.

Maybe I am different, but when I was a young boy, I never had thoughts/questions about my sexuality. I was a boy, other boys were boys and the rest were girls.

Us boys liked baseball and playing marbles - “for keeps”. We liked to see who could spit the farthest. We played war, cowboys and indians, and king of the mountain. We built forts and clubhouses. We raced homemade go-carts down tall hills. We dreamed of being Superheroes, fighter pilots, astronauts and so many other wondrous things.

Girls, they wore dresses and pony tails. They liked bright colors, ate the peel of oranges-strange. They played “pick up sticks” and that stupid game called Hop Scotch. They whispered and giggled. It was always a girl the puked on the school lunchroom floor—I still don’t get that.

Girls couldn’t keep secrets, so boys knew better than to ever let them in on anything really important. Girls always seemed to get their homework done and they seemed to be smarter about most of the stuff the teachers talked about.

As the years flew by, things did change. I mean, I started to see a certain magic about girls. They became interesting and nice to look at, talk to, joke with and be around.... they no longer puked on the lunchroom floor.... and well, the rest is history. ;>)

I am so darn glad I was brought up in the 50s. The version of the “birds and the bees” wasn’t as complicated some are making it these days.

Contrary to what you might think, I still haven’t lost ALL of my marbles. I am 64 and I still have a coffee can full of many treasures, including my marbles.

aversion = apostrophe?

It's definitely interesting that I hadn't heard that before.

to introduce the completely normal act of pederasty

Yes, I think a lot of this comes from groups like NAMBLA who seek to destigmatize and ultimately decriminalize adult sex with children. I believe this is why we now have free birth control for minors without parental consent. And abortion at any age without parental consent. The erosion of parental authority gives these professional associations a louder voice than they ought to have.

Pediatricians have a new mission: Fight ‘homophobia’

Hey, you guys are supposed to be doctors, curing diseases and protecting our kids from epidemics.

Why the hell shouldn't people be afraid of the disease-ridden filth who want to rape our kids?

PS, don't let them serve you food.

"Has Satan finally conquered Christ or are we being tested?"

What a repellent, blasphemous thing to say. If you're a Christian, you should know better.

The world is quickly heading into the pit of moral blackness that will welcome the Antichrist and set him up as a god. We're heading there fast.

Even Christ said” My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me.”

Was he blasphemous?

The Lord said that in His extremity of suffering....and when He was in His human incarnation. It isn’t quite the same as one of us speculating whether He’s been beaten by evil.

Look, I know you didn’t mean harm by what you said, but I got a chill reading those words.

Maybe it’s because I am in a Human carnation.

I pray every every night before bed, I attend Church. I see what’s happening, and I ask for help.

Just a small miracle would be appreciated. Something like Mitch McConnell and Boehner growing some courage.

Testing, testing, testing, is anybody listening down there, testing, testing, testing.

Not only does God say it’s wrong, God also says He’ll gladly cleanse any willing person who’s been sinning that way. But it takes radical faith, the kind that actually gets you moving at the impulse of God’s heart, not your cultural milk-and-water Christianity.

Well, I think one ought to have grace enough to answer the question “by Heaven, NO!” Not get all offended over the “blasphemy.” It’s an understandable question and it was asked by Psalmists.

No, it isn’t understandable, and I did find it blasphemous.

You don’t think for all sound minded people, fortunately. I wouldn’t personally have put it that way, but as long as you are sitting around judging people instead of giving them an answer of grace, you are part of the problem not part of the solution.

... and especially when it’s Christians you are judging. “Aha! Gotcha in a sin!”

"You don’t think for all sound minded people"

What...? Where did I imply that I speak for anyone other than myself?

"fortunately. I wouldn’t personally have put it that way, but as long as you are sitting around judging people instead of giving them an answer of grace, you are part of the problem not part of the solution."

You're railing against "judging" while doing a good job of judging all by yourself. Notice that?

I have no idea what you might mean by an "answer of grace", but the bottom line is this: I spoke to a fellow Christian about something in reference to our Lord which I thought was inappropriate. Venturer doesn't seem to hold a grudge nor consider it a big deal, and it seems he (she?) and I are still on good terms. He's angry about the way things are going, which is understandable....we all are.

You, however, can't seem to get over it. And I don't care.
