Pediatricians have a new mission: Fight ‘homophobia’
http://www.washingtontimes.com ^ | june 24, 2013 | Cheryl Wetzstein

In its first sexual-orientation policy update in nearly a decade, the nation’s largest pediatricians group said its members should do more to fight “heterosexism” and “homophobia,” as well as step up their care of teens with same-sex attractions.

“Sexual-minority youth should not be considered abnormal,” the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) said in its new materials on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youths, released Monday.

The policy statement and technical report — which updates a 2004 policy — is nonbinding but recommends that pediatricians create offices that are “teen-friendly and welcoming to all adolescents, regardless of sexual orientation and behavior.”

Doctors can signal their openness to LGBTQ youths by putting out brochures with pictures of “both same- and opposite-gender couples” or posting a “rainbow” decal on an office door or bulletin board. The report also suggests that medical questionnaires be changed to be gender-neutral, and that staff be trained to not ask a boy about his girlfriend, but to ask him to “tell me about your partner” instead.

AAP’s new guidelines are not filled with “gloom and doom” about LGBTQ youths, said Dr. David A. Levine, lead author and member of the AAP's Committee on Adolescence.

“There is an emerging literature about resiliency [in these populations], and about the fact that parental acceptance and parental love, family connectiveness, religious connectiveness and school connectiveness are all very protective against risk behaviors,” said Dr. Levine, who is a professor of pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta.

It really shouldn’t be a surprise that when teenagers feel valued and secure, they develop positive self-esteem — and that is what buffers them against high-risk behaviors, he said.

Any kind of questions like this from my doctor would have me quickly looking for a new doctor.

GAY means happy, joyous, that sort of thing. Not a pederast.

The freaks killed the language first, then they’ll kill you.

Ah, welcome to FR!

I’ll answer your question as to why such a small group is having such an impact.

The left is predominantly and primarily anti-Christian.
The homos are simply a spearpoint for the left.

The goal is to criminalize Christianity and use the power of the state to persecute Christians.

It’s the same reason that the left supports the anti-gay Muslim culture as well.

Recently had a conversation with my doc about ObamaCare.

Guy is very quiet. I've never talked to him beyond whatever medical stuff was immediately at hand. This is a guy who doesn't mince words or make smalltalk. He takes his job *very* seriously - and you better not get in between him and his patients. And, I'd never heard him to curse, though it didn't surprise me that he knew the tune and the melody. :-)

In short, he's darn good at his job, which is why I like him so much.

However, when "ObamaCare" came up at my last visit a few months back, he jumped all over me. "You didn't VOTE for that B******t did you!!??", he asked, very pointedly.

"No sir", I replied. "Good! Because people have no @%@%%ing Clue how out of control this montrosity is going to get!!" He went on in that vein for a good two minutes. Made it sound like ObamaCare, and BO personally, was going to drive the entire profession - at least locally - out of business. He ended with, "If things get bad enough, I'm going to quit and move out of the country!"

I walked out of his office a little bit shaken, but I can't blame him. I'd not want a gov't functionary dictating to me how to do my job. Especially in a life-or-death profession.

Libs have seriously miscalculated here, in assuming that smart, motivated people will continue to put up with their nonsense. If you're talented, intelligent, and have the financial means, why would you deal with idiocy, when you could move to (for instance) Costa Rica, do the same work for the same money, with no hassle?

/rant off. But I feel better now.

We are under G-d’s judgement because we have turned a blind eye to evil...whatever, right?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is such a radically left wing organization, that parents should seriously consider finding a different doctor for their child, if their Pediatrician is a member of the AAP.

Yes, that's the first thing I look at when I read articles like this. Who is this organization and why should anybody listen to them? Often it is a case of the media doing their standard operating procedure which is, "Find some idiot who is yelling and do a story about them."

I don't like being around bugs.

That's ok. Lots of people don't like being around bugs. That does not mean you have arachnophobia, or any other debilitating fear of insects.

I don't like being around homosexuals.

You have homophobia! You are a very sick person.

Libtard leadership is very serious about promoting homosexuality as a population control measure. As an added bonus, practicing homos have an excellent chance of contacting a fatal STD and being off the planet by the age of 50.

There was a Hawaii Five-0 episode a while back where they crack the case of a deranged (female) scientist intent on spreading a deadly virus to college-age students at an international youth gathering.

Her sick justification, when she was busted, read almost exactly like the population control lobby among the libtards.

Until capitalism came along and brought with it freedom, innovation and productivity, the earth maintained a fairly stable population of half a billion people for millenniums, give or take a few million. Your most extreme libtards believe that is all the earth can sustain, though a few concede that technological advances will allow us to sustain perhaps as many as five times that number.

They, of course, are the proper ones to decide which one-third or so of humanity gets to survive. Really scary stuff once you understand the mindset.

And next on the pediatrician’s agenda is how to introduce the completely normal act of pederasty to their patients. As a matter of fact this will be a live in-exam room hands on demo.

No parents invited.

I have a libinlaw that is a doctor, and of course, is very pro-homosexual because she's a lib first and foremost. I've been looking for an opportunity to ask her if, in her medical opinion, male homosexual behavior would be indicated or non-indicated for a long, healthy life.

Not really. They see independent businessmen doctors as a big part of the problem. They want care to be administered by nurses and nurse practitioners working for gigantic Accountable Care Organizations that answer only to HHS. Fewer doctors is a good thing for progressives. That’s how they are going to “bend the cost curve down.” And, if it wrecks the health care system and forces single payer, even better.

homophobia

Phobia from Phóbos = φόβος (Greek)noun.- fear, morbid fear

I do not have a 'fear' of homosexuals.
I am kind of 'disgusted' by their activities.
I am 'averse' to homosexuals.

disgust = αηδία (Greek, pronounced 'aivia'(eye-VEE-ah) noun.

homoaidia? Homoaivia?

averse = antíthetos - αντίθετος (Greek, pronounced (AHN-te-THET-ohs) noun.

homoantithetos?

aversion = apostrofí̱ - αποστροφή (Greek, pronounced (ah-pas-TRO-fee)

homoapstrofi?

I think these would be better.
But of course they wouldn't work as well to imply that I have something wrong with ME by not liking homosexuality. (See, the people with homophobia are the ones with the problem not homosexuals.)

they’ve been trying to push this for decades but now they have their messiah in power then they know they have to get as many laws as possible and make kids think this is normal so when we , or if we ever take power again and overturn their so called right then many kids and homosexuals would have been brainwashed into thinking rights are being taken away.

I walk into a Docs and see articles or photo’s for homosexuals and see photos of homosexuals and then I will grab it, tell the people there it’s sick and I don;t want my kids seeing this perverted agenda and I will walk out and then later tell others how sick that office is

True enough. The easiest way to destroy any system is to get rid of the people who make it work.

To your point, I'd argue that there's a lot of stuff that can be handled by nurses and PA's. For instance, if my kid has a sore throat, there's no need to see a trauma doctor in the ER. And I'd bet 70 (80?)-odd percent of medicine is just that. Sore throats, earaches, physicals, and the like. Preventative Maintenance, as it were.

However, lawsuits and ridiculous regulations forced docs to practice defensive medicine. And, that kind of one-size-fits-all nonsense is what got us in trouble in the first place.

I don't think there are many reasonable people who would say that the medical profession in America was perfect and totally without need of any change. However, rather than addressing specific issues with a scalpel, what the current regime has accomplished is to choose the nuclear option and wreck the medical profession from the top down.

I'm dubious that medicine in America will survive ObamaCare. Indeed, I'm dubious that the country will surive it, as well.

they’re not gay, the word gay is a way to put a positive word on an agenda and they are called homosexuals.

I see you’re Brooklyn up in the north east which has homosexuals every where but using terms what they want you to do is only helping their agenda

using the term phobia for homosexuals is pathetic, no one is afraid of them, yet we don’t want to be around the drama queens, hear their sexual lives and certainly think it’s sick

asked my Doc who I know very well and he replied”no it’s not healthy, they are prone to more diseases, shorter life spans, “

He explained about where the colon is and the prostate and how it’s not healthy for these things or the thin film to be ripped.
He told me most Docs he knows would want to tell people they think it’s not healthy but fear of being sued stops them
