Think tank smackdown: Mitch McConnell vs. Norm Ornstein ("a...old-fashioned, far left guy" video)
Washington Post ^ | June 21, 2013 | Ezra Klein

--snip--

“Norm is a good, old-fashioned, far-left guy,” McConnell said. “I like him. He’s fine. He’s been wrong for as long as I can remember. And it’s great to see you here. I’ve been wanting to spar with you for years.”

Ornstein has been under the auspices of the American Enterprise Institute for decades, IIRC, so I assumed that he had some kind of allegiance to conservatism. PBS' NewsHour, and its prior iterations, has been dragging him out to represent the right for as long as I can remember.

McConnell's outing him as a lefty certainly fits with Ornstein's recent book with Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution titled, "It's Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided With the New Politics of Extremism."

"America’s two main political parties have given up their traditions of compromise, endangering our very system of constitutional democracy. And one of these parties has taken on the role of insurgent outlier; the Republicans have become ideologically extreme, scornful of compromise, and ardently opposed to the established social and economic policy regime."

Every review that I saw, heard or read was like that. The cryptomarxists get a complete pass!

Check the video at the source. Hat tip to McConnell!

He hasn’t gotten conservative. He has other’s to carry his water right now so he can get reelected. He’s still “Old Wormy Mitch”. Wait for him to act like a Minority Leader rather than a Minority Bystander. But don’t hold your breath.

This outstanding piece of agitprop is aimed at convincing the rubes that Good Ole Mitch is one of us after all!

The fact of the matter is, IMNVHO, is that it demonstrates the opposite. Mitch shows us how he is able to consider Good Ole Norm a colleague; how he is able to compromise with the Far Left; how he has been able to cover this fake SOB's flanks for years.

Mitch, at great profit to himself, has long enabled The Left to carry on with its programs, while conducting a distracting charade. He, Boehner, and if there's enough duct tape, Graham, ought to be stuck together and heli-dropped beyond the 200-mile limit.

I'll settle for him being primaried out.

I read that Rand Paul has endorsed McConnell for 2014 and that he will not back a Tea Party primary challenge to McConnell. I sure hope Ted Cruz doesn’t take that position with Cornyn. I would like to see both Cornyn and McConnell challenged in the primary.

He’s up for re-election in 2014. He saw what happened to the last establishment guy running for Senator in Kentucky. Say hello to Senator Rand Paul.

NumbersUSA has documented how McConnell is doing everything in his power to pass Amnesty. He is a slithery, corrupt old snake in the grass—even worse, if possible, than Boehner.

I can't do anything about McConnell, but as far as Arizona is concerned, anyone running as an incumbent will be getting a big "thumbs down" from me. I'm voting against them ALL, first in the Primary, and if they survive that process, then in the General, too.

They're all complicit to one degree or another in the "Obama" fraud, whatever form that fraud eventually ends up having taken.

McCain managed to keep the open primary until after his last election. Let’s hope we can get rid of that. Dems vote for McCain and now will also vote for Flake. Neither one could get elected by republicans.

Arizona does not have an open primary - Democrats cannot vote in the Republican primary, though “independents” can pick either party’s primary to vote in. McCain won because Hayworth was not exactly conservative on a number of issues and McCain crushed him under tons of cash, not to mention he had Sarah Palin campaigning along side him during that primary. It didn’t help Hayworth that he appeared in an infomercial pushing a questionable product that McCain was also able to exploit.
