Border security proposal gives Napolitano new waivers
Washington Times ^ | June 22, 2013 | Stephen Dinan

Analysts looking through the new border security deal in the Senate say it includes waivers that would let Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano refuse to build any new fencing or install the new technology the plan lays out in close detail.

The senators who struck the deal late this week said they were trying to take the decision-making away from the Obama administration and ensure that new fencing and technology would be deployed, but the latest version gives Ms. Napolitano or her successors the ability to waive or ignore those requirements.

...

A number of Republicans said they didn’t trust Ms. Napolitano, who has already declared the border secure, to do what the GOP thought was needed.

Democrats, meanwhile, have fought to keep out elements that would delay the full pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

It’s a farce, they set a requirement and in the next sentence lay out the way to ignore it. It is all bullshit, smoke and mirrors and does nothing to secure the border.

[Senator] Sessions: Border Security Amendment Would Not Hire Agents Until 2017

Corker Amendment Permanently Offers Citizenship to Those Overstaying Their Visas

No wonder Schumer was beaming that the immigration issue would never more be a problem after this bill is signed — it gives blanket amnesty to everyone crossing the border or overstaying their visa.

This bill will be the same kind of boondoggle that Obamacare is — they have to pass it to find out what is in it.

Memo to male GOP members of the House and Senate:
Please take a moment and reach down between your legs. There — feel those? Unless you relinquished them on the way to getting one of the cushiest jobs on the planet, those are your TESTICLES.

Now that you’ve located them, squeeze them to introduce a bit of testosterone into your circulatory system and then GET BUSY AND STOP THE MISERABLE, AMERICA-HATING SOB AT 1600 while you still might.

Late Friday afternoon, Sens. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.) filed a 1,190-page amendment, supported by Sen. Rubio and the rest of the Gang of Eight, that is a complete re-write of the existing amnesty bill. Handwritten changes were even added moments before its introduction.

I defy Big Sis to take a hike along any portion of the border between Nogales and the CA border unarmed, unescorted, and on foot.

printed on page 30:
If the Secretary determines that an alternate or new technology is at least as effective as the technologies described in paragraph (3) and provides a commensurate level of security, the Secretary may deploy that technology in its place and without regard to the minimums in this section.

provision on page 34:
Notwithstanding paragraph (1), nothing in this subsection shall require the Secretary to install fencing, or infrastructure that directly results from the installation of such fencing, in a particular location along the Southern border, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain effective control over the Southern border at such location.

Here are the Senators that have joined as cosponsors of the amendment: John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Dean Heller (R-NV), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Mark Kirk (R-IL), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mark Begich (D-AK), and Joe Donnelly (D-IN).

I live in Illinois. About a week ago, I emailed Sen. Mark Kirk (a RINO). I asked him to vote against a immigration bill that would allow illegal aliens to remain in the U.S.
