Six 2012 House losers to watch in 2014
The Hill ^ | June 22, 2013 | Cameron Joseph

That's what some defeated House candidates from 2012 are hoping, at least.

Several failed candidates who ran strong campaigns, but fell just short last year, are back for a rematch this election cycle.

Whether they can use lessons learned in their losing campaign to change next year's results will go a long way in determining which party gains seats in the House.

IMO if the House passes any kind of an amnesty bill, the Republicans are toast because their base will not vote for their re-election.

"IMO if the House passes any kind of an amnesty bill, the Republicans are toast because their base will not vote for their re-election."

Too much campaign cash comes from the businesses that depend on cheap labor, and the Republicans are just as guilty as Democrats.

The DIFFERENCE is: No entitlements-seeking constituency votes anything other than (D), and the hapless Conservatives who were stuck voting for "clothes-pin" (R)'s just will NOT do it anymore after Amnesty (it doesn't matter; it's too late but this will give the (D)'s a big cushion).

Here are the six candidates listed:

David Rouzer (R-NC)- came within 654 votes of unseating moderate ‘Rat Mike McIntyre, this time will be better prepared and not be drained by an expensive primary.

Mia Love (R-UT)- was overconfident last year, expected to waltz into office, but lost to Jim Matheson by about 900 votes. this time will concentrate on local connections. That helps, but this was one of the few districts where Romney helped Republicans. The Matheson name remains gold.

Pete Aguilar (D-CA)- should have won easily last time, but was blindsided by the state’s new primary laws. He’ll be better prepared this time. IMHO, Republicans need for Gary Miller to retire and find a better candidate.

Rick Allen (R-GA)- narrowly lost a wild, time-and-money-consuming runoff to Lee Anderson, who was a mediocre candidate. Most Republicans now wish that Allen had been the nominee. He will be this time, but John Barrow has a knack for beating the odds.

Martha McSally (R-AZ)- she exceeded everyone’s expectations and will now be her party’s top priority. If the elections go well, she will be a rising star in Congress.

Brenden Mullin (D-IN)- he did better than anyone expected, raising questions about Jackie Walcoski’s abilities, and he was no dooubt helped by the implosion of Richard Mourdock and the local popularity of Tim Donnelly. This is one to be concerned about.

The comment regarding the disillusion of conservative Republicans is very accurate. The alienation between the grassroots and the Republican establishment in Washington has become a chasm. Brewer, McCain, Flake, all of whom I voted for in the past, no longer deserve my support.

I hope that Col. Martha McSally runs again. If she does, she will have a good chance to turn AZ CD 2 (Giffords old seat) red. However, she has been silent regarding her plans.

Martha McSally - jump into the race.

I will not let my hatred for Big Daddy Pimp Rove and his lackeys in the GOPe prevent me from supporting solid conservatives, but no, I won’t be sending money to rubes like Flake.

He’s gone for good we think. Good riddance. The guy was a doofus. Mourdock however, I have some sympathy for.

“Isn’t Barrow the most conservative Rat in the House?”

If I’m not mistaken, Mike McIntyre of North Carolina is.

We have a small vacation home in Scottsdale. Have debated the issue of whether to vote in Arizona or Texas for a number of years but have not changed my registration thus far. Used to live there and my son was born there so I have a lot of interest in the area.

When I was out there a couple of months ago I called McCain’s office in Phoenix, identified myself and said I was very concerned about him because he appeared to be off his meds. Clerk slammed the phone in my ear!

I’m not surprised by the stances that McCain and Flake have taken. I am extremely disgusted with Brewer, however, particularly after she approved the Medicaid expansion. Really expected better of her - guess my original assessment was really wrong.

I think they will make the Democrat losses in 2010 appear mild. This is going to be worse than passing Obamacare, because the Republicans aren’t even appealing to a fringe portion of the party. Some how, the Democrats got the Republicans to put their name on this very unpopular bill which is going to anger the country, and make their base go ballistic. I am sure most voters can’t even name any of the Democrats in the gang of eight, but they have most likely all heard Rubio, McCain, and Graham, as well as Paul campaigning for it. If the Republicans are stupid enough to get this through, my prediction is they lose the house by historic numbers and lose seats in the senate as well. The Republicans have put themselves in the position of being responsible for this bill, whether or not most of them vote for it, they will get the blame.

Tried to explain that to my Rep in person and sent an email to Cornyn who is up for re-election to the Senate in 2014. Of course both of them think I don’t know what I’m talking about. “Look at all the other wonderful things they have done” kind of statements.

Cornyn best not underestimate the forces that were amassed to elect Cruz over RINO Dewhurst. I have voted in every election since 1958 but I will sit the next one out unless we have a more viable candidate to vote for other than Cornyn because I refuse to vote for him ever again.

I can’t actually name the fourth rat attached to the bill. Schumer, Dick, and creepy Bob. Who is the other one?
