Exclusive: Disney Channel Breaks New Ground with Good Luck Charlie Episode (Gay Couple)
TV Guide ^ | June 20, 2013 | Michael Schneider

Posted on 06/20/2013 10:52:48 PM PDT by Pinkbell

In a first for the Disney Channel, next season an episode of Good Luck Charlie will feature a family with two moms.

Producers are currently casting the couple, with production set for next week. The episode will air in early 2014 as part of Good Luck Charlie's final season. Because Good Luck Charlie is coming to a close, the characters are only expected to appear in this one episode.

In the storyline, parents Amy and Bob Duncan (Leigh-Allyn Baker and Eric Allan Kramer) set up a playdate for preschooler Charlie (Mia Talerico) and one of her new friends. When the kid arrives, the Duncans learn that Charlie's pal has two moms. That's fine, but the potential new friendship is put to the test as one mom chats with Amy, and the other is stuck listening to Bob's dull stories.

The playdate is actually the secondary story in the episode, as much of the action will center on Teddy (Bridgit Mendler) and her best friend Ivy, as Ivy prepares to head off to college.

But Disney Channel understands the groundbreaking nature of featuring a same-sex couple on one of its sitcoms and took extra care in crafting the episode. "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors," a Disney Channel spokesperson says. "Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."

Disney becomes blatantly pro-perversion.

ABC “Family” already broke this ground with
“Meet the Fosters”

Two mommies embracing each other in bed included

What, one of the two moms wasn’t butch enough to appreciate Bob’s stories?

It would have been unacceptable had it been reversed, and one of two gay dads was rolling his eyes listening to the traditional wife’s ‘girl talk’.

They’re not really breaking new ground at this point; if they want to stir up controvery, they should have some faunce from San Francisco buggering Goofy.

On second thought, nah... too late for that, too.

Not only that, but you have to watch the whole show before allowing your kid to watch it. These kids shows are sometimes so juvenile it’s excruciating to watch them if you’re an adult.
And once the show has aired, how do you let the kid watch it then?Unless the network replays it, the kid is out of luck, and the adult watched for nothing.

The dvr is perfect for situations like this.

My 4 yr old niece likes Sprout and Disneyjr...so far the only offensive thing I’ve seen is Michelle Obama’s get moving ads!

Child development experts and community advisors are code words for liberal therapists with an agenda.

You could DVR the show or you could watch with your child. It’s a teaching moment because they will be exposed to liberalism all the time as they get out in the world. You can explain why you disagree and believe a certain thing is wrong.

“guess we arent watching the final season in my house.”

My youngest one watches it (and my wife likes it); as TV today goes it is OK (intact family with 5 children, though unlike the Simpsons or King of the Hill they don’t apparently have any religion). They won’t be watching that either; the show was probably targeted because it was fairly wholesome (so they can pretend deviants are, too).

This fag lesbo crap on TV is destroying my potential to become a Jeopardy contestant. Whenever the subject come up about TV or movies, I go grab a beer out of the frig as I know I am never going to be able to answer any question about TV after 1980 or most of the “actor or actress” categories.

I watched an episode of that stupid show while I was on vacation. I smiled once. How can the same network that produces “Phineas and Ferb” have not a single live-action show that’s the slightest bit amusing?

I watch MeTV. Old shows you could watch with the family. If you want to see violence, watch the news. If you want porn, take an elementary sex ed class.

LOL - me, too. I never knew the answers to TV or movies or even current music. The only broadcast show I watch is Criminal Minds and mostly because of Shemar Moore. Glad my kids are grown.

Recently discovered INSP, which shows reruns of Happy Days, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, The Waltons, and Matlock in the evenings.

After three days of watching them, I was screaming at the TV, "Why don't you make shows like this anymore?"

Any entertainment vehicle which has a stated goal of providing “diversity and inclusiveness” instead of quality programming will be assured of achieving lousy programming.
