Obama hits a wall in Berlin
Washington Post ^ | June 20, 2013 | By George Will

Posted on 06/20/2013 10:30:15 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

The question of whether Barack Obama’s second term will be a failure was answered in the affirmative before his Berlin debacle, which has recast the question, which now is: Will this term be silly, even scary in its detachment from reality?

Before Berlin, Obama set his steep downward trajectory by squandering the most precious post-election months on gun-control futilities and by a subsequent storm of scandals that have made his unvarying project — ever bigger, more expansive, more intrusive and more coercive government — more repulsive. Then came Wednesday’s pratfall in Berlin.

There he vowed energetic measures against global warming (“the global threat of our time”). The 16-year pause of this warming was not predicted by, and is not explained by, the climate models for which, in his strange understanding of respect for science, he has forsworn skepticism.

Regarding another threat, he spoke an almost meaningless sentence that is an exquisite example of why his rhetoric cannot withstand close reading: “We may strike blows against terrorist networks, but if we ignore the instability and intolerance that fuels extremism, our own freedom will eventually be endangered.” So, “instability and intolerance” are to blame for terrorism? Instability where? Intolerance of what by whom “fuels” terrorists? Terrorism is a tactic of destabilization. Intolerance is, for terrorists, a virtue.

It is axiomatic: Arms control is impossible until it is unimportant. This is because arms control is an arena of competition in which nations negotiate only those limits that advance their interests. Nevertheless, Obama trotted out another golden oldie in Berlin when he vowed to resuscitate the cadaver of nuclear arms control with Russia. As though Russia’s arsenal is a pressing problem. . .

Indeed, in this nation, it is zero for national defense, all distractions in foreign Soros society missions from Tunisia to Syria.

Unlike Americans, Germans have no ‘inner need’ to tolerate Obama’s phony-baloney, and don’t care who knows it.

One suspects that most savvy people worldwide know that Barry’s an ignorant, feeble-minded loser and spend a great deal of time in laughing at the U.S. as a result.

I think we have an answer, in the affirmative, already.

Oh, but we do. Do you know the German word for “leader” perchance?

Ach du Lieber, Der Fueher aber naturlich!

A term as governor of Illinois might have prepared him more, and at least shown him the values of leadership.

He couldn't be bothered with anything so trivial and tedious!

At first it sounded as if your statement that Barry partied more than JFK is untrue. but then I realized JFK was in the White House for about 2 years and Obummer has been there for about 5 or 6 years. So it’s possible you might be telling the truth. But I’ll bet Barry’s had more pink parties than JFK did.

With all due respect to Mr. Will, I think we all here (or nearly all) recognized from the very beginning, when this petty lying tyrant wannabe came on the scene, knew exactly what he was and is.

This man from his dubious origins and inexperienced life’s accomplishments (yet having the audacity to ‘self’ author TWO books on his life) has telegraphed his competency and madness all the while. It did not take a speech at the Brandenberg Gates to confirm this.

And, Mr. Will, this is where I have a problem. You and Charles Krauthammer, et al now write columns acknowledging this and foretelling a “second term failure”. Where in the hell were you guys in 2008 or 2012? You were right where you are now. Writing articles, appearing on Sunday shows talking about this man as if he were a reasonable world leader and these fundamental divides we have with him as if they were “just political tiffs.” You should have told the truth then. Not now. We don’t need you to tell us that.

As far as I’m concerned, you and your bow tie helped elect him. All of you sitting up there weeks on end calmly discussing this man as if he were a sane normal leader with some minor differences instead of pounding your fists on the table, screaming at the top of your collective lungs to get this man the hell out of office.

They say the sun was in his eyes, but it looks like the sun was behind him. Maybe the reason he flopped is because he’s just plug stupid.

Well, the media continues to do its best to avoid drawing any links between Obama and the scandals. Even with Benghazi, when he was aware during the attack that it was going on and was the only person able to do something to try to rescue the Americans under attack--very little focus has been paid to his role. Instead even when Benghazi is mentioned it's about side issues like Susan Rice and the talking points.

Even when the media discovered that the DOJ was snooping on them, that didn't stop them from their instinct to protect the administration. Sort of like Hillary defending Bill in 1998 despite the Lewinsky scandal.

In a cage match I expect Putin would only need about five seconds to take care of matters.
