Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) launched a national petition on Thursday to stop the Senate Gang of Eight's amnesty bill and send Washington a "strong signal" of the grassroots opposition to the bill.Cruz urged supporters to share the petition with friends and to "act now--without delay--to help us defeat amnesty and stand for legal immigration!"

A person gets deceived when they click on a hot link expecting to find a bona fide petition to sign so they call it what it is, a campaign ploy, and the best you got is to post an image of a cute little troll doll?

The site to sign the petition is a bit confusing. Off to the right there is a box that says SIGN TO DEMAND REAL BORDER SECURITY. It asks only your name, email and zip code.
Done. I didn’t send any money this time, but if Ted remains steadfast without turning into another RINO, I’ll send him some cash in 2006.
I clicked the hot link only to find a collection of my name and e-mail address. Where’s the beef? WHERE’S THE TOUTED PETITION? I’m calling all of you out for piling on the person that dared express the sentiment that the attractive words used to lure one in to click on the link didn’t take oneself to a petition as inferred. That’s DISINGENUOUS, and frankly unnecessary... what has happened to my beloved Free Republic?
Oh, I-went-for-a-cheap-shot? And an attempt by you to tar and feather me by comparing my commentary to a/the marxist (small m used intentionally) in the White House. The piling on is telling and juvenile. You might very well have three of your four fingers pointing right back at you?
Thank you for the tip and civil tone. I signed in, but what did I sign into, and that is my point.
The petition has nothing to do with defeating the bill outright or against the massive legalization and citizenship. It only says that border security in the bill should be better.
And yes, it is very likely an address-gathering fundraising ploy. Rand Paul has done something similar.

I went there... gave my name, current zip, and an email address... hit next and it didn’t say thanks for your support and that my Aname was added to a petition... it said “send us money”.
Slimey.
Don’t flinch. Just sign.
llegal aliens invade the USA for Welfare and Wages.
1.) End the Federal ‘Anchor Baby Law.’
2.) End the Federal ‘Hospital Emergency Room No Payment Law’ (EMTALA).
3.) End ANY other Welfare to Aliens.
4.) Fine US employers $1,000 per day per alien employee hired.
5.) Spend NO money on “securing the border.” It is 2,000 miles of desert.
6.) Spend money on Chainlink/ Concertina wire prisons in the desert for repeat offenders who have invaded our Country.
7.) Transfer Border Invasion Enforcement to the US Coast Guard and the US National Guard in each State, and controlled by each States’ Governor.
8.) Repeal all State and Federal Laws that prohibit voter officials and Police from requesting proof of US Citizenship for any reason what so ever.
I agree... and appreciate the fact that he has fight. I recognize some of that fight around here too. ;o)

I would stick with NumbersUSA's and Stand With Arizona's existing petitions with big numbers and no fundraising gimmicks.
