New York Democrats Want to Ban Police From Describing Suspects By Race, Sex, or Age

New York Dems want to pass a bill that would limit a description of a suspect to identify suspects essentially by the clothes they wear only. Truly mind-numbing stupidity.

NYPost reports the following:

Cops might as well wear blindfolds if the City Council passes a bill that would let them use little more than the color of a suspect’s clothing in descriptions — or risk being sued for profiling, according to this provocative new ad (pictured) from the NYPD captains union.

The ad asks, “How effective is a police officer with a blindfold on?”

And the answer is not very, says the NYPD Captains Endowment Association, which is fighting the measure, claiming it would handcuff cops and send crime rates soaring.

Union President Roy Richter — who is seen in the ad wearing a blindfold in Times Square — told The Post the bill is dangerous because “it will ban cops from identifying a suspect’s age, gender, color or disability.

“When we have wanted suspects and patterns of crimes, those are very important descriptive terms to let officers know who to look for.”

The ad warns that if cops transmit a description of a suspect that goes beyond the color of his or her clothing, they could be sued for racial profiling if the proposal becomes law.

The ad will appear in tomorrow’s Post, in addition to the union’s Web site, Twitter and Facebook — and provides links to contacts for City Council members to sway their vote on the measure.

The bill’s sponsor, Jumaane Williams (D-Brooklyn), and Speaker Christine Quinn are

BTW, in places like CA they tried to stop it...They voted for and passed prop 187 overwhelmingly way back in 1994..

The people may have voted for prop 187, but they also re-elected the politicians that ignored that vote.

All goes back to THE VOTERS.

WHAAAT? “Suspect is a human being wearing a red hoodie.”

Savvy suspect reverses his hoodie to the inside gray lining and casually walks past the po po.

Isn't it offensive to label them "Suspects"?

Right...assumed suspect. Better? ;o)

Our Fascist government won't leave this evidence behind. Read "1984" by George Orwell. Or read about Stalin in Russia (they used to remove images of out of favor bureaucrats from pictures). Or read "The Forgotten Man" to see how much of FDR's fiscal insanity was never made public.

They can't ever have any evidence around about how insane their policies were, because it discredits their religion of socialism.

Why not simply legalize crime? That will fix everything.

Hey, you’re getting the hang of this. You should apply for the dispatcher job. That was real clever.

What happens when they ask for a composite sketch. Can the artist ask whether it was male or female?... black, brown, white, yellow?...young or middle age or old?

The DEMS are truly “off the friggin wall” on every subject. PC has rotted their brains.

Yet, it is important to answer those questions for every other purpose. Why is this one so important?

LOL.....the stupid is STRONG in NY. It will surely make for hilarious crime reporting.....

'Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a burglary suspect today. As you can see from the pixilated surveillance image, the suspect is described as being human, appears to about 5 foot 7 and was described by witnesses as possibly smelling like a popular deodorant soap.'

It won’t stop with just the cops. It will be expanded to include victims of crimes. They too will only be able to describe the perpetrator by the clothing they were wearing.

“A rep for Quinn said she sent the proposals to a floor vote because a MAJORITY of council members SUPPORTED it and Public Safety Committee chair Peter Vallone Jr. — an opponent — refused to let it out of committee.”

“Williams and fellow Brooklyn Democrat Brad Lander, a co-sponsor of the proposal, say it would only expand the city’s existing racial-profiling law by adding other demographic groups that should be protected, such as the homeless and gay people.”

Here in my state they got rid of the death penalty and gave felons the vote regardless of the crime they were convicted of.

In fact the second (felony votes) a few freepers here liked that idea feeling sympathy with the criminals, although that was a few years back probably 2009.

Now with the fuss over voter ID laws that wouldnt go well here anymore.

If they passed this, within a month the papers would be filled with stories about black teenage boys being questioned for crimes committed by elderly Asian women. If anything, having a description for the assailant protects innocent people who belong to groups that commit a disproportionate number of crimes, since instead of being a suspect for every crime he would be a suspect for a much smaller number of crimes.

RE :”Liberalism: Calling evil good and good evil since its inception.”

If you believe that guns and soda and smokes and booze all kills people, but other people don't kill people (except maybe those greedy owners who sell them) then this law makes perfect sense.

You know that air-BB guns are illegal in NYC?
