The Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday that the immigration bill currently being debated in the Senate would reduce the federal budget deficit by $875 billion over the first 20 years it becomes law.

The CBO said in its official scoring of the bill that it would reduce the deficit by $175 billion in its first 10 years of existence. Over the next decade, it would provide an additional $700 billion in savings.

AP The Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday that the immigration bill currently being debated in the Senate would reduce the federal budget deficit by $875 billion over the first 20 years it becomes law.

The CBO said in its official scoring of the bill that it would reduce the deficit by $175 billion in its first 10 years of existence. Over the next decade, it would provide an additional $700 billion of deficit reduction.

That amounts to 0.2% of GDP.

If the bill becomes law, the CBO estimated that about 10.4 million people would come to the United States as new immigrants. And it would legalize about 8 million people who currently live in the country as unauthorized immigrants.

The CBO's scoring of the bill pleased immigration reform advocates, the Senate "Gang of Eight" sponsors of the bill, and President Barack Obama.

I thought the CBO was supposed to be objective in its scoring of government proposals. We saw how objective it was in the scoring of the Affordable Care Act, a/k/a Obamacare. It was scored over 10 years, and the Dems gamed the scoring by including 4 years of up front payments and only six years of benefits.

Now, against all evidence of what a drain illegal aliens are on our country, they tell us that wholesale amnesty will be an economic boon. If you believe this, I've got a bridge to see you.

Our country is lost.

Democrats say it.
Government departments “confirm” it.
The media reports it as fact.
The public accepts it without challenge.

I don’t give a flying FIG about how much it is projected to save in costs. THAT IS NOT what this is about. This isn’t an appropriations bill or a healthcare bill. This is about protecting a sovereign nation from illegal entry. If it IS a spending bill, where is the line item for building the fence?

And the lying dogs at the CBO also said that ObamaCare would not cost more than $900 billion so it would pass. Shortly after, they revised the figure to $1.5 TRILLION, and that too, will be too low.

The “non-partisan” CBO pushes the Big Government agenda with fake numbers to provide cover for Congress.

It is all a game, a numbers game full of BS.

They'll estimate 20 trillion in deficit over the next 10 years. Then re-cook the numbers with some bill they want and get 19.2 trillion in deficit over the next 10 years. Then they'll go and claim the bill will have an 800 billion deficit reduction.

BS - we're still running a deficit. To borrow one of hussein's favorite stupidisms - this is "unsustainable." You can't run a deficit, any level of deficit, indefinitely.

I find this sentence particularly amusing:

“The CBO’s scoring of the bill pleased immigration reform advocates, the Senate “Gang of Eight” sponsors of the bill, and President Barack Obama.”

After all that’s come to light recently with the IRS and the NSA, it’s not easy to imagine some relationship between the “pleasing” and the “pleased.”

This, after a study that showed amnesty of the purported “11 million” (more like 25 million) illegals will ultimately cost $6 trillion.

Exactly. They are probably figuring in all the taxes these illegals are going to pay that we know are not going to pay but only cost us more in entitlement payouts plus the votes that they think they are going to get to bolster their base and expand their power. They are too stupid to realize that those immigrants will start electing their own and kick them to the curb.

Providing health care and social security to illegals from Central and South America is bound to save us money.
