CONWAY — Connecticut firearms manufacturer PTR Industries will announce Monday that it has decided to move its operation to Horry County.

The formal announcement is to be made at a 2:30 p.m. ribbon cutting ceremony at an industrial building in the Cool Springs Business Park.

Mark Lazarus, Horry County Council chairman, said at the conclusion of Tuesday night’s Council meeting that the ceremony would be attended by Gov. Nikki Haley, U.S. Rep. Tom Rice, R-Myrtle Beach, much of the county’s legislative delegation and County Council members.

“I’m excited to get it to this point,” Lazarus said after the Council approved a resolution setting out the terms for the company’s move to Horry County.

Connecticut used to have a vibrant fire arms industry but the idiot liberals in charge of the state are making sure that the industry is no longer welcome.

Then they wonder where all the tax money has gone!!

Stupid liberals.

Maybe they will build presssure cookers instead. It seems to be a trending fade in that area.

Just how do you pronounce that county’s name, anyway?

From About PTR

The original PTR rifle was first conceived in 2002, when a predecessor company purchased tooling and designs for the HK line of roller-lock weapons from Fabrica Militar of Portugal.

Initially, small quantities HK-91 “clone” rifles were produced, mostly from surplus parts acquired around the world. From 2002-2006, the reputation of the PTR-91 rifle grew considerably along with the market for it.

This from the Horry County Historical Society;

"HORRY " is a surname of French origin. The correct pronunciation is " O-REE' "

Less than 3 hours for me, and I spend at least 1 week a year there. Definitely will become one of my stops each year once they get established...

“Orry”. The “h” is silent.

re: PTR 91KK:

Oh BABY!! When the HK rifle series, 91 and 93, came out years back, they were THE semi-automatic rifle to have. The HK91 was a wonderful .308 NATO firearm. It has had some ‘field usage’, too, and the reports were outstanding.

I’m glad to see the company choose a more promising location to flourish.

I’m sad, that the State of Connectict, once one of the American colonies, that battled the British crown for Independence from Tyranny, has become a garden of despots and tyrants.

GEAUX PTR, may you endure and prosper!

You know, if all of these northeastern states drove their firearms manufacturers out 170 years ago, the war of 1861 might have ended a bit differently.

Yes it did. I used to live in CT right down the road from Marlin Arms. Remington and Winchester weren’t far away. The liberals drove them away! That’s ok. SC will be glad to become the new home to this industry.
