President Barack Obama defended top secret National Security Agency spying programs as legal in a lengthy interview Monday, and called them transparent—even though they are authorized in secret.
“It is transparent,” Obama told PBS’ Charlie Rose in an interview broadcast Monday. “That’s why we set up the FISA court,” he added, referring to the secret court set up by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that authorizes two recently disclosed programs: one that gathers U.S. phone records and another that is designed to track the use of U.S.-based Internet servers by foreigners with possible links to terrorism.
He added that he’s named representatives to a privacy and civil liberties oversight board to help in the debate over just how far government data gathering should be allowed to go—a discussion that is complicated by the secrecy surrounding the FISA court, with hearings held at undisclosed locations and with only government lawyers present. And the person to whom this was said sat there and just accepted this patent absurdity at face value. Our media people are either the stupidest people on earth or the most compliant and/or mendacious. There is no scenario where they are honest inquirers or auditors.

What is transparent related to this, is that political games are being played here. And it’s very suspect if blackmail isn’t a big part of it.
At the very least as it relates to religions groups and Conservatives, we know that intimidation has occurred, and that discourages others from openly supporting the cause.

I just saw a clip of the NSA chief testifying before Congress. He was just asked if the NSA had “the ability” to read emails and listen to conversations under Prism. He answered, “no, we don’t have that AUTHORITY”. Nobody even seemed to notice that he answered a different question.
The agenda is apparent, toss a broad net and suppress voters and ‘terrorists’ at the same time, the Constitution be damned.

Transparent? So everyone knew FISA court was rubber stamping millions of wiretaps? Only thing that is transparent are Obama’s lies
