Splitting does sound like a decent solution.

One side (not saying which...) will never put up with then having a neighbor that prospers again, while the own country collapses. Wouldn't look good at all. They'll never agree to such a plan.

It could happen. The Coloreds and the Afrikaners make up a majority in the Cape. They speak a common language, Afrikaan.
