George Orwell was right. He was just 30 years early.

In its April cover story, Wired has an exclusive report on the NSA's Utah Data Center, which is a must read for anyone who believes any privacy is still a possibility in the United States: [mod note, Wired content is not allowed on FR]

To most of us Orwell’s 1984 is just a classic science fiction novel.

To Obama and other liberals it is a How-To-Do-It guidebook.

It’s really getting stupid how people are making this an Obama story.

Either we have Republican paid professionals making that type of comment or poor helpless folks who have Republican engrained in their brain.

This spying on citizens goes back to the CIA at it’s outset.

It’s been steadily increasing all along, both under Dem and Repub administrations.

George H W Bush is new world order extraordinaire.

Electing a Republican to replace Obama will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to change the track America is on.

Wake up, wake up, spit out the blood of Kali !

Anyone wishing to fight the United States government must plan on using Napoleonic-Era command and control, and using an EMP and/or massive jamming of all parts of the electromagnetic spectrum usable for communications, telemetry, radar and the like.

You are exactly right.

The New world Order cannot be implemented as long as the USA is strong and sovereign. Nothing/no one is going to stop that from happening.

Politicians will bitch and moan about all the scandals, etc. but they will not cross the line because they want to live and don’t want their families harmed or dead.

Yes, we are already there...many people know this and many people do care, but know there is very little they can do about it. But perhaps the majority of the people in the world do not care, they are too busy being entertained.

If I didn’t know that God is on His throne and is in control, and that everything is going according to His plan and purpose as He has revealed to mankind in the Bible, I would be fearful and hopeless. But my hope, the anchor of my soul, is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life, and no man comes to God but through Him.

This is the most important thing in this life to settle. The rest will fall into place—as He ordains—for His own glory (that we have been graciously allowed to share in).

Several years ago I remember talking with people about the movie, Enemy of The State. When I said I didn't think the ability to track people as portrayed in the movie was far-fetched other than the movie showing more visual than was required, everyone just laughed. They said I was either paranoid or exaggerating.

Maybe people will finally wake up now that simultaneously tracking several million people in real time is no big deal. Too bad people didn't wake up back when they would still bust a gut every time they tried to track more than several hundred people at once in real time. Back then keeping track of everyone with launch codes, ours and theirs, was all they worried about.

As the longest-serving member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Hatch began working on bringing the Data Center to Utah in 2007. He held several conversations with seniors members of the Intelligence Community, and in 2008, Camp Williams was selected over 37 other sites as the location for the new Data Center. Hatch has continued to work with congressional committees to ensure the Data Center was fully authorized, and helped scale regulatory obstacles as well.

In September 2010, the Army Corps of Engineers awarded a construction contract to a consortium which includes the Big-D Construction Corporation in Salt Lake City.

Center to build Utah’s economy, patriotic reputation
Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) - Thursday, January 6, 2011
Author: Mike Gorrell The Salt Lake Tribune

Camp Williams - The creation of up to 10,000 construction jobs alone makes the Utah Data Center a great project for the state.

But speakers at Thursday’s ground-breaking ceremony for the $1.5 billion facility emphasized that economic benefits aside, the center solidifies Utah’s position as a leading defender of the American way of life.

“The threat posed by computer hackers is very real and growing,” Sen. Orrin Hatch , R-Utah, told more than 200 participants at the event commemorating the start of construction on the computerized center that will help U.S. intelligence agencies combat “cybersecurity” threats.

“This country defends itself against cyberattacks every day. It’s an arena where we need to defend ourselves,” he added. “This center will support the effort to better understand that threat.”

(snip)

http://www.cnn.com/2011/POLITICS/01/12/cyber.defense.center/index.html

(January 12, 2011)

The NSA will take the lead at the center, assisting the Department of Homeland Security and other agencies in protecting cyber networks.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, lobbied to get the center in his home state.

“The data center will be part of our expanding efforts to defend our Department of Defense computer systems from cyber attack and will also play a key role in helping Homeland Security keep our government’s civilian computer systems safe,” he said.

The new facility will give the NSA much needed computing and data storage space. A huge amount of cyber work is already done at NSA headquarters in Fort Meade, Maryland, and the Utah center will balance the load across the power grid.

“There are limits on the load,” one congressional official explained. “You can’t simultaneously run 12 showers in your home.”

Hatch said the 1 million-square-foot facility will have 100 to 200 full-time employees with expertise in information technology and electrical and mechanical engineering.

You are right on! GHWB was in it from the beginning. He is still calling shots. We do not have anyone that I know of who is ready to change things.

That means, we will soon be where this country was in 1776...if we know history, we know the solution. There were only 3% of the people behind what happened then...I believe we have more now...it is time...

Indeed. 'Freedom Fighter' Americans are what they're after. Developing their FEMA camp lists, or perhaps just all-out death camps for anyone who doesn't "COMPLY". It'll be interesting to see what happens to those who refuse to "COMPLY" with 0bamacare.

I became a history student in 1976 after reading Anthony Brown’s “The Bodyguard of Lies”. Spent 8-9 years reading everything I could find related to WWII Sig/Intel. Then more modern related material, some crypto analysis history. Starting with Herbert Yardley and then David Khan.

Yardleys’s “The Chinese Black Chamber” was a very good read.

Years later read Bamford’s “The Puzzle Palace” right after it was released. Then Deep Black and some others.

There are some very interesting Early American books about this type of subject.

Most people are not aware that Thomas Jefferson built the 1st rotary encryptor, it was made from deer horn cut in thin slabs with a screw securing the sequence disks in the center, inscribed on outside. Disks could be re-sequenced to change encoding.

My that has been a long time ago.
