NSA admits listening to U.S. phone calls without warrants

The National Security Agency has acknowledged in a new classified briefing that it does not need court authorization to listen to domestic phone calls.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, a New York Democrat, disclosed this week that during a secret briefing to members of Congress, he was told that the contents of a phone call could be accessed "simply based on an analyst deciding that."

If the NSA wants "to listen to the phone," an analyst's decision is sufficient, without any other legal authorization required, Nadler said he learned. "I was rather startled," said Nadler, an attorney who serves on the House Judiciary committee.

This government needs to be reined in.

I don't mean to seem contrary, tje, but have a hunch it's too late for reins. I suspect the only sensible solution is for the states that wish to remain American to secede, reassert our original Constitution, and let the remainder continue to degenerate into so-called "progressive" hell holes.

At least the communist Nadler (my rep) is good for something.

This came out late this afternoon. Will the MSM pick this up? I doubt it. This is way beyond ‘meta data’ and they don’t even think they need justification to listen in or read your email.

Parody:

If HHS wants "to read your health records," a bureaucrat's decision is sufficient, without any other legal authorization required, Nadler said he learned. "I was rather startled," said Nadler, an attorney who serves on the House Judiciary committee.

Maybe he should read what's in the bill before voting to pass the bill.

There is one other thing we can do, fight dirty: like this.

“Startled” is a far cry from doing anything about it. “Startled” could simply be that progress toward the goal has been so rapid.

I think your probably correct. But I don’t see any public officials in any state with the balls to do anything.

“Startled” should lead to jail time for the Chicago thugs involved.

Some other informational releases from Herr Nadler.

“The Republicans chose to hold their convention here, I think most of us believe, to continue the political exploitation of 9/11, which this administration started almost immediately after 9/11,”

On the Republicans holding their Convention in NYC

A woman has a constitutional right to choose to terminate her pregnancy before the fetus is viable, ... A prohibition on the exercise of that rite is per se unconstitutional

It only takes political courage because the NRA makes people toe the line against the majority view of the country. It’s time the majority stood up and said enough already. And the majority should have a motive because any of us could be a victim tomorrow

Today, thousands of committed same-sex couples are needlessly suffering because of unequal treatment under our immigration laws, and this is an outrage, ... Any serious legislative proposal for comprehensive immigration reform absolutely must include gay and lesbian couples and their families.

And this:

“[W]e have a lobby, the leadership of the NRA, who function as enablers of mass murder. And that’s what they are. They’re enablers of mass murder, because they terrify the class of political people.”

If a terrorist event were in progress, and the NSA were requested by a law enforcement agency to provide real time information to help avoid a terrorist attack, I would be willing to allow after the fact documentation to justify it.

That’s not what we’re talking about today though.

We’re talking about all encompassing listening and recording as if God granted them the right to know our every thought.

Nope. He didn’t.

Remember how out of their minds mad liberals were at Bush because he was “shredding the Constitution” with his “warrant less wiretaps”?

I sent it out via Tweet, and will continue to do so, until it catches. I have seen far less meaningful tweets repeated until I finally unfollowed the user, rueful smile.

Dear Lord, please, guide our course.
