Obama dithers while Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah bolster Assad.

On Wednesday, Qusair fell to the Bashar Assad regime in Syria. Qusair is a strategic town that connects Damascus with Assad’s Alawite heartland on the Mediterranean, with its ports and Russian naval base. It’s a major strategic shift. Assad’s forces can now advance on rebel-dominated areas in central and northern Syria, including Aleppo.

For the rebels, it’s a devastating loss of territory, morale, and their supply corridor to Lebanon. No one knows if this reversal of fortune will be the last, but everyone knows that Assad now has the upper hand. In 1958, President Eisenhower — venerated by today’s fashionable “realists” for his strategic restraint — landed Marines in Lebanon to protect the pro-American government from threats from Syria and Egypt.

In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Russia threatened to send troops on behalf of the Egyptian army. President Nixon threatened a U.S. counteraction, reinforced the Sixth Fleet, and raised the U.S. worldwide military alert level to DEFCON 3. Russia stood down.

That’s how the region works. Power deterring power. Obama deals instead in empty abstractions — such as “international legitimacy” — and useless conclaves, such as “Friends of Syria” conferences.

Assad, in contrast, has a real friend. Putin knows Obama. Having watched Obama’s retreat in Eastern Europe, his passivity at Russian obstructionism on Iran, his abject bended-knee “reset” policy, Putin knows he has nothing to fear from the American president.

I know this has been posted before, but it bears repeating because in just one week, Obama has openly said he will send arms to the rebels, then he backs down.

I think Putin sent him a clear message that if you arm the rebels be prepared, as we will destroy them openly.

What does this all mean? It means that we have a weak cowardly president who in a very short period of time, probably days, will be challenging Obama openly in the press on the battle field.

Obama will not fight, he will back down...as he's trying to do now. Putin will push the envelope. Obama will then try some covert maneuver and be squashed.

It could be a real game changer. Bottom line..Assad remains in power...Hezbollah strengthened and the threat of war with Isreal.

Meantime Iran pursuex their nuclear weapons, and we're mired in Afghanistan.

Ben Rhodes was behind the Benghazi "talking points" and Mohammed video lie. Now he's telling us about Syrian Sarin. I would not believe him if he said the sky was blue.

At the same time, the US and Russia each arming a side in Syria could be the start of a World War 3, since there is already turmoil in much of the Middle East.

A brutal sectarian dictatorship bolstered by one terrorist group involved in a proxy war versus a brutal terrorist uprising aimed at replacing the first dictator ship with an equally evil one. Either way, Israel has similar enemies.

There is no moral position than could draw us into this.

This is what happens when people vote incompetents into office with the hopes that they’ll loot the public treasury for them.

The answer to your quandry is in the headline. You don’t REALLY expect him to REALLY do anything to oppose his own team, do you? 1st clue: He has muzzie brotherhood people on his team right IN the White Hut. I can’t wait to see what kind of phoney-baloney “opposition” he sends over there; and how many pretzels the media twist themselves into, trying to make Obunga look good, and make the “aid” he sends look like it amounts to a fart in a tornado!

we want Assad in power, with his secular government.

Not that ‘0’ cares about the law...but it is against the law for him to support terrorists and or their organizations.

Unfortunately the terrorists are “madly” trying to obtain WMD’s in Syria..and apparently have done so to some extent...or being supplied with them.

Once WMDS are used, no matter who is responsible...something has to stop the use.....

Last night I spent a great deal of time listening to Assads speeches from the beginning of this war to recent. He gave exclusive interviews in various countries....and he never blinked. Stayed calm and completely confident of what he was saying.

Assad said right from the beginning that terroists had come in and were causing much of the killing and various other happenings. He also said, early on that outside governments were equipping them...with instances mentioned.

This is not a mad man...IMO...but a leader who is watching his country being taken over by those with an agenda to take him down. Just as they did Liya, Egypt and any other leader who is not on board the Global Agenda.

I am under the impression nothing will stop Assad from protecting his country from being taken over...and he will use whatever means he has to to prevent it.....we would do the same were another President in charge of our nation instead of the one we have.

And so, we, the USA, are going head-to-head with Russia and China over the Syrian civil war. What’s wrong with this picture.

What does the US gain? Both sides are declared enemies of the US. I don’t give a tinkersdamn about Russia or China, but to butt heads with them over Syria is just plain stupid!!

Did the Muslim Brotherhood (CAIR) dictate this move to Obama’s regime to arm the AQ rebels and more? as they now appear to be dictating to the FBI and CIA on investigations?? (thinking of Mueller’s testimony in Congress Thursday)
