Nevada's Governor Vetoes Universal Background Checks

While Biden set to jumpstart push for gun control next week

...

Stunning victory for gun rights in Nevada!

You guys did a tremendous job bombarding Governor n Sandoval’s office with phone calls, and he has listened to your appeals.

Governor Sandoval vetoed the Universal Background Check bill yesterday, and now, the anti-gun Left is in full-mourning.

The Associated Press reports that, “It is a significant defeat for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's gun control advocacy group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns [MAIG]. The organization spent hundreds of thousands of dollars working to get the bill passed through to the governor.”

Despite Bloomberg’s fortune, his anti-gun MAIG simply doesn’t have the grassroots behind it.

GOA was joined by other groups on Tuesday, June 4, in asking Nevada gun owners to urge Sandoval to veto the legislation.

The next day, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “2,200 people called his office between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.... Four out of five calls [were] for the veto.”

According to the Journal, this onslaught was one of the chief reasons that the Governor set up a hotline number. His office simply couldn’t get work done as they were being “bombarded by calls from people who want the governor to veto the gun control bill passed by the Legislature.”

Once the Governor set up a hotline number -- and Bloomberg started running ads urging people nationwide to call it -- GOA urged gun owners nationwide (last Friday) to call Sandoval’s office.

As of this past Tuesday, more than 100,000 calls had already been placed to the Governor. And this just underscores how important it is for gun owners to join GOA’s email service....

We heard on local Fox talk radio yesterday here in Reno that the veto calls were 6 to 1 over the “sign it” calls. Wonder what the hell happened to the 86% of Nevadans supporting SB221? Maybe the MIAGgots lied about the number. Nah. They’d never make stuff up would they?

Bloomberg thought the rest of America was as nervous, hypochondrical, hysterically anti-gun like he and my fellow NYers are? What a schmuck.

The Las Vegas area Oath Keepers had their monthly meeting last night. They do a great job following what’s going on in local and federal government. Our board president does a great job. The meetings are educational and engaging- well worth the time and I’m not generally a “joiner.” We’ve been following this bill for months and this was some great news. I encourage my fellow Las Vegas area Freepers to check us out.

I got a call the other day (before he vetoed this) and was asked if I’d be willing to volunteer for Sandoval and Heller campaigns. I said no and was hung up on immediately without even being asked why.

I’m very disappointed in Heller and wary of Sandoval, I’m glad he did veto this.

Heck, who I met at the first Tea Party here, is a bit of a disappointment too.

The best thing about it was that Sandoval waited until the LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE to veto it. That way, it will be over a year before it will see the light of day in Carson City again!

S/B221 was sponsored by a freshman RAT hoping to make a big splash for himself right out of the gate. Now he has his pantyhose in a big wad and is spouting the usual lies and B/S about “86% of Nevadans wanted his bill because its "just common sense” and “we have to start somewhere”,and so on and so forth. He is “deeply disappointed” Yada Yada and so on. A$$wipe Reid is saying about the same sort of $hit. So a pox on both of them.

What should be vetoed is New York.

America just doesn’t need New York.

Mayors Against Illegal Guns [MAIG]...

Ain't it ironic that they only work against LEGAL guns?

I was happy to call it, even though I live in Utah! Why? Because Nevada is sort of a “home away from home” state! Many relatives live there still as well as here in Utah. Also,if he (Sandoval) had’ve signed it, they would’ve been over here, drunk with victory, stirring up crap in UT. He might still try to pull it here in UT! My relatives are good old gun-toting, hunting, fishing, very patriotic “heart of the golden west” people; many of them with French Basque ancestry (through one Grandma-Gr.Grandma) They would’ve had a fit; young and old alike! Even some who are Democrats/liberals/1 gay cousin w/partner) who do like their Republican governor pretty well! Well, I just had to help them (and their governor) out, after all! :-)
