Rubio: We need to legalize immigrants so they can pay for border security
Washington Examiner ^ | 6/13/13 | Byron York

Why is it necessary to legalize the roughly 11 million currently-illegal immigrants in the U.S. before newly enhanced border security and internal enforcement measures are in place? Sen. Marco Rubio, the leading Republican on the Senate’s Gang of Eight, says part of the reason is that the federal government can’t afford to secure the border on its own and needs financial help from the immigrants themselves, in the form of fines paid when they are legalized.

Rubio made the statement during a radio interview after he voted against an amendment from Republican Sen. Charles Grassley that would have put off legalization until after the border is secure — a position supported by majorities of voters across the political spectrum. Host Andrea Tantaros asked Rubio why he opposed something that was important “to so many in the Republican party?”

We really should be thankful that Marco showed us his true self.

He really played us all very well. You lost me Marco. Buh Bye.

If Rubio thinks America will “make money” on amnesty he is crazy.

This is what D.C. does to people. We send Marco Rubio and a few years later we get a Maxine Waters.

I wish I knew how to do parody songs a la Paul Shanklin.
I would love to see a video of the gang of eight singing The George Strait song, “ Just Give It Away”.

Rubio removing all doubt as to the degree of idiot he is.

Billions for foreign adventures though.

The beltway gang has nothing but contempt for the people that pay their salaries. The septic tank needs to be drained.

This guy has no respect for the American voters, especially Republicans. If he is down to using border security as a reason for promoting the border’s violators, he has sold the last vestige of his soul.

I had to reread the title to make sure it wasn't Biden that made such an idiotic statement.

I was afraid Rubio would wind up going this route. I am very skeptical of people these days.

I’m not convinced he played us at all. We’re so hungry for a Conservative that we fall in love the first nice thing they say.

We’ve got to get off that kick. Christy, Rubio, first one person does it then another.

So, so stupid. NOT having border security is more expensive that having it.

The guy's a fool. We don't want 11 million more illegals. Send them home. Put them in prison. Jail the people who hire them.

Americans are burdened up to the hilt. We have children to help, Detroit to support on disability, the IRS and their lavish parties, the FBI to pay to spy on American citizen who happen to be conservative... The country we loved is becoming a third world hellhole.

It's enough. Our generosity is tapped out. Our taxes are high enough. The country.s broke. Isn't that enough? We gave and gave and gave and we're tired of it. If Rubio wants to personally support a few hundred of these people he can do it...he can send them checks from his own account.

Illegals overstay their welcome because they get free stuff, get IRS refunds for fake children back home, and do not pay taxes.

If we tax them, they will self deport
