Somebody’s feeling the heat but the goose is already cooked. Of course gay couples will be included in the bill. Does he really expect restraint from progressives? And he’ll vote for it or be declared a hater and a bigot.

Since gay marriage is legal in some other countries and many states in the US there is no way in the world excluding gay couples would stand up in the courts here, especially ones like the ninth circus. Rubio, you can talk big about rejecting your own bill but if any married people are allowed to join their spouses under this bill then you will have gay couples no matter what you argue.
About the only hope is to put in a "straight only" clause and make it explicitly inseverable from the rest of the law so the court has to throw out the whole law to throw out the straights only part. Or the court could just ignore the inseverable specification.
