With the vast history of arab/muslims enslaving blacks, even now, it is very puzzling the kinship that seems to exist, at almost every level, between those cultures. It has to be Stockholm syndrome.
I think old Bill’s still living in the 70’s, when we had Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Sigh.
When it comes to just focusing on the positive values (and trying to forget about all those nasty bad things that we could try to filter out), I’m reminded of the Space Nazis episode of “Star Trek”. An old Starfleet officer thought he could use the post WWI model for Germany, but run benignly, to revive a planet. Yeah, that didn’t end too well.

That's extremely generous. Bill Cosby hasn't been a comedian for at least a quarter century now. He dropped that gig and became a mouthpiece for the liberal fascist oligarchy a very long time ago.
American blacks wound up with a bridge to Islam through Elijah Muhammad's crackpot American cult in the sixties. The NOI never managed to convert more than a small percentage of blacks, but they have left their mark on that sub-culture, which has tended to heighten awareness of Islam.
Cosby is a good guy. He doesn’t know what the religion of peace actually does. If he knew, he wouldn’t be praising them.
Suppose, in that treatise attributed to Bill Cosby, he had used the term “black Mormon” substituted for “black Muslim”. Would that change the way it has been interpreted?

Islam differs GREATLY from the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter-Day Saints.
Islam is not a religion, it is an ideology disguised as a religion, depending entirely on fear and intimidation to gain and hold its subjects. Do like we say, or we chop off your heads.
One of the reasons that the feudal system of medieval Europe eventually failed. The bourgeois and peasants finally rebelled against such excesses. They still got their heads chopped off, but it was for good and sufficient reason, not merely to appease the imagined will of some stern boogie man.
